Simple really. I choose to not eat animals but eat plants. Just like you choose to eat animals and plants.

You have to draw a line somewhere. Or as one posted put it, half ass it. As far as I am aware plants to don’t feel pain or suffer or have actual intelligence. If you have proof that says otherwise I’ll gladly read it.

But it wouldn’t change my stance. As I said you have to draw the line somewhere. I am okay with bugs hitting my car. I’m also okay using fossil fuels that were produced by dinos that were treated inhumanely by cavemen millions of years ago. I also have to be okay with various rodents being killed during harvesting. In addition to all that I also have to be okay with the dairy industry (which to be honest is worse than meat industry to me) because I still eat dairy.

At the end of the day I’m happy with my decisions and I don’t really care what you choose to do with your diet. As I’ve posted before all I want is more awareness of how animals are treated by the meat and dairy industry.

“You” choose to draw the line somewhere then expect people to care about your line drawing capabilities just so you can feel recognized. It’s exactly as i’ve stated before: only when it’s suitable & convenient for you to do so for whatever reason. Hint, .000000000001% of people care about what you think. And as far as “what you want”, you should be old enough to realize that people seldom get what they want. Now STFU.

Uhh...did you even read my post?

    Edit...

First off where did I say I wanted recognition for anything? I don’t. It seems to me you have the problem with me not eating meat, not the other way around.

Also, what’s wrong with treating animals with respect? I don’t see why people would be against that?

If dairy is OK, then complaining about a tiny bit of leather on the steering wheel is kind of stupid.
FYI, heifers like being felt up twice a day and their male calves make good veal!:D

Dairy is okay with me. Not OP.

Also...this is what I’m talking about. Awareness could go a long way. :)

39 pages of this so I'm really hoping someone has brought up the fact that buying a truck with leather components and then swapping those components for vegan alternatives doesn't change the fact the cow is still dead and that leather was now truly wasted. The only "righteous" vegan move here is to buy something without leather. Swapping leather for synthetic is nothing more than putting on a charade for your vegan friends.

Holocaust doesn’t just mean killing Jews wholesale. It literally means catastrophe. So I defend my use.

After all that we have done to this planet, things are out of balance. 6 billion people going vegan would send it over the edge. There would be an animal population explosion, diseases would spread and mutate faster, who knows how the insect population would react. It’s possible they wouldn’t be able to keep up. Look at what happened to China during the Great Leap Forward, when they killed off all the sparrows. One. Little. Thing. All of a sudden it’s a catastrophe.

I believe this thread was only started to start a conversation about going meatless. My chicken breast burrito for lunch was fantastic !

PS, I don’t usually eat breakfast, but this thread got me hungry this morning. Chicken, cow & turkey was incredible, they never complained.

PSS, my cat was going after something this morning, after investigating I noticed a very small spider. I smashed it and saved the cat, I have a lot of respect for Texas (my cat). We do have something in common : )

I forgot the smiley face at the end of the last one, sorry... But yep, I read it. Twice. The recognition is wanting your opinion to be heard, which is why you're posting. No problem at all. I just think this whole back & forth thing is really funny, & I would love for it to keep going on forever, which is why I'm attempting 100% to do my part, which is my opinion that I wanted you specifically to hear and recognize me for, which you did again. Thanks. And, until a cow shows me some respect, I'm out... Look, I honestly couldn't care less if you or anyone else ate shit for every meal, as long as you're not trying to force it on me. Now back to the FUN!!!! :D

Now this is a well thought out response, thank you.

You hit the nail on the head, it's all about drawing a line. I'm of the opinion that where this line lies is up to us, but I do agree there are some serious issues in the food industry when it comes to treatment of animals. Oddly enough that is a part of the reason I got into hunting.

My line is people. I am not going to eat people. I don't care how hungry I get. You can quote me on this.

Honestly, probably most of the anti-vegan posts here are either false information or just highly non-sense arguments that is hard to imagine anyone can genuinely be making in good faith. Basically anybody can get an account here and just spam it with lies and crazy arguments, which many have done, like comparing animal suffering to plants, saying that meat diet is better for your health than vegan diet, when experts have said the opposite, and saying that the world would go hungry with a vegan diet or land would be lost, again, top experts have said the opposite, and by opposite I don't mean they disagree, I mean literally opposite. Unfortunately the world has a high amount of people with bad character and not worth my time trying to respond to it in any sort of serious or academic way. Maybe in some more academic forums there can be more serious discussion and posters are better vetted, but it's not on a Tacoma forum. I just came here looking for information about the Tacoma, and got into the discussion only because people were curious or I felt the need to respond to statements I thought were not correct. But I see now that much of these posts are just total spam. I'm sorry but I'm out of this one. If someone wants to talk to me they can PM me, I'd be happy to converse. Thanks to all the nice people, vegan, vegetarian, even meat eaters, some have been very respectful and I appreciate it.

I gave up on you when you refused to refute the "experts" from the Alaska Fish & Game department who concluded that "The major impacts (of agriculture on wildlife) will be habitat changes, in increased depredation problems, disease transmission, competition, and changes in access. Habitat Changes: Loss of wildlife habitat to large-scale agriculture is a widespread and ongoing problem in the United States.

Post 17 above. I could find dozens of experts that support this position. You are only interested in "experts" that support your positions. The fact is if you breath, shit, eat, and live on this planet you will displace other species.

Oh, and after I provided a list of the most vegan friendly vehicles, which the Tacoma was not among, you bought a Tacoma. You're welcome by the way for my help.

Seriously, good luck on your quest for Utopia OP.

I think where it went off the rails was when you suggested legislating a vegan diet, aka imposing your personal beliefs on others which myself and many others strongly disagree with.

Then we went from off the rails to off the deep end with the whole eliminating predation in the natural world. If you took the time to learn something about ecology you'd realize that's a completely asinine proposal.
