Maybe I’ll do the same, except I’ll go into the non government involved non vegan thread.

I smoked these yesterday. Recipe is first remove the membrane. Add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder and a light dusting of cayenne. Smoke with hickory for 3 hours @ 180º. Then wrap with foil, and add 3 tablespoons of melted butter on each. Turn the heat up to 225º and leave on for 1 more hour. Then they get unwrapped, sauced, and the temp turned up to 400º. Flip and sauce every 10 minutes until about 195º internal temp. Let them rest for ~15 minutes, cut and serve.

i have to say that buying aftermarket parts to replace the leather you already bought is extremely wasteful, and does not help your cause, it only helps your ego! People have been wearing and utilizing animal skins for all of history. Just relax man..... its only natural.

Plus the leather isn't even leather. It is "Softex" or something like that, synthetic.

But this thread was fun. I could post more BBQ pics, but will abstain. For now. I just put beef Chuck ribs on the smoker for tonight.

I'm all about live and let live, but this thread seriously influenced me to start shopping for a BBQ grill/smoker (not trolling... honestly. I'm serious)

My daughter is vegetarian, so I naturally cook less meat for the family than I did before, but hell, now she's going to college.
Between the crappy vegan BS and the incredible bbq pics on this thread, I've decided it's time to get a good grill.

I'm liking the Traegers and the RecTecs and I think I want a smoker attachment.

I have also been looking at the "three in ones" with gas, charcoal/pellets, and a smoker. Thoughts or recommendations?

Not trying to be inflammatory, but the truck is powered by fossil fuels, and are inherently animal based for that reason, no? How does it become vegan?

That is a sweet generator! Will it run on whale oil? I have a couple barrels of it to burn off.

Someone should buy one and find out. I think that the Japanese still hunt a few whales once in a while.

Haven't read the entire thread, but generally speaking if Toyota says leather, it's leather. If it's not leather they'll not call it leather, with an important caveat: not all of the pieces are leather. Toyota's leather seats will usually not use real leather for the bolsters or other side pieces, typically only the centre pieces are actual leather. This is primarily done for wear reasons. Ditto for the material used on the door panels, etc. A steering wheel or shift knob listed as leather will be leather.

Toyota offers SofTex as a synthetic leather which uses no animal products. I haven't seen them use this on steering wheels or shift knobs though. At least not that I can recall.

Lexus uses Nuluxe as a synthetic leather, however I believe it does use some animal product in its production. SofTex and Nuluxe are very different.

    Jeff
