so i just bought my 09 V6 AC TRD Sport a few weeks ago and noticed that after it rains or i wash the truck i get some water in the passenger floorboard. After some inspection i found that theres nothing covering this hole under the cowl which leads directly to the cabin air filter and blower motor. Can someone tell me what goes here?

Toyota doesn't make a cover for that air intake, but you can. A wire screen will keep the mice out of your heater.

I had a similar problem in my old Impala. A no-name company did a windshield repair and broke one of the plastic clips holding down the big plastic piece that sat right under the windshield wipers and covered the filter to the blower fan. After that the passenger floor was flooded every time it rained. They claimed it was my sunroof, then they said they'd fix it, then they replaced the windshield... TWICE, then they disappeared. For 6 months I tried everything to figure out what was letting water in. The windshield was sealed, my sunroof was fine, I rigged a clip to hold that plastic piece down, EVERYTHING. I had to sop up water every time it rained.

Finally I just said screw it and went to the junkyard to find another of those huge plastic pieces that covers the filter. Nothing special, just a big piece of plastic with a little weatherstripping at the top and small enough holes to keep the leaves out. No way it was stopping any water.

I installed it in about 15 secs and I never found water in my floorboard again. I'm still stumped as to why, but that definitely was the problem.

My wife's 07 rav4 did the same thing. I took some pipe insulation and cut it in 1\4" wide strips and plugged several of the outer cowel cover and its been dry for a year now.

I just had mine fixed at the dealer. There was a small fold in the rubber seal on the top of the cowl which seals against the windshield.
It started leaking when I had it in for the a/ c vent tube dripping water on the passenger floor. The tech must have pinched the rubber when putting it back together and it started leaking when it rained. The rubber seal cannot be purchased separately, it's part of the assembly. The price was .$375.00 for the cowl which they covered do to their mistake putting it back together. Hopefully this helps. I would have taken a heat gun to it to get the rubber back into shape.
