What is on that huge touch screen?

I have a little touch screen on my 2023. I can see radio select buttons, use the navigation, dive into system preferences while I am getting familiar with the truck. What more is the big touch screen used for? I know Tesla uses the screen in lieu of dedicated buttons and switches. Is that true of the 4g tacoma? That would be a big NO vote from me. I've never seen one in a Tundra - what is that screen for?

If you have ever used AA or car play then you will love it on a larger screen. Even more so now that you have different tiles/windows available while the navigation is running.

Honestly I find the small screen distracting, even dangerous. No unlike someone trying to read text messages on their smart phone. I am surprised the large screens are even legal. Can you imagine trying to find a light switch or windshield wiper switch on a Tesla?

Talk to text works great, most of the time.

Like it for nav checking traffic conditions on the commute, bigger screen would be easier and safer to glance at over the small screen. Really no different than glancing at gauges. Was at the dealer today checking out Tundras, definitely like the bigger screen. More I look at the Tundras the more I like them too.

No problem finding switches, Toyota kept them for all the important controls, have my lights set to auto can’t remember the last time I touch the stock, same with the AC.

Far bigger than needed. More than the size, it's where it's located. Way too high up.
First time I rode in a Tesla I almost yakked when I saw that ridiculous display.
In my living room, bigger is better for immersion, but not in a vehicle.

Larger 14” screen looks ridiculous. Should have went with a lower widescreen large screen like in the RX 350 and other vehicles. Sticking way up over the dash is so unnatural IMO.

Just remember that it will be an upgrade unless you are getting a limited or higher trim. You will get use to it quickly. I loved mine while I had my Tundra. The reflection was the only thing I could complain about...well the fingerprints too. Highly recommend the matte screen protector from OCD plugs. Took care of both issues.

I wish they would have integrated the screen better. BMW does a great job and offers a scroll wheel so you rarely have to touch it. The new obnoxious screen on the Tacoma isn’t a deal breaker, but it looks dated already and cheap at best.

Why not upgrade the windshield to a 72 inch wrap around flat screen?.....I'm joking but I do think the screen is too present and distracting . Anyone else's parent use to bitch "your sitting to close to the TV"?

A 14” screen was probably cheaper to parts-share straight up with the Tundra. However, the Tundra has a much larger interior that better accommodates a large screen. In the smaller Tacoma cabin, that same 14” screen visually dominates the entire dashboard. So prominent is the screen that it’s difficult to see any coherent design to the dash beyond a screen and vents. Maybe that’s why the designers chose to jam a big Tacoma badge in front of the passenger.

Not helping matters, Toyota chose to use a traditional flat screen design that pops up vertically from the dash, which was all rage on cars 10yrs ago.

So, yes, the screens are bigger than they needed to be, and yes, it’s already somewhat dated looking.
