OP, get the type of lift you want. At the end of the day, you are the one spending your money on your truck that you are going to drive everyday. Don't get something you think you are going to regret later.

I'm just saying that a 6 inch lift does not take away from the function of a lifted truck and make it only a mall crawler. As Taco me elmo stated. Both are viable solutions on and off road.

You have just as much ground clearance from the lowest point of the truck, if not more clearance with the 6 inch. It is all about tire size.

Yes you have to cut the fame, but you bolt in a bracket that is just as strong factory bracket. The peace of steal I cut out was only about 2 pounds. Once removed from the truck. The pace I put in its place was about 25 ponds of steal, ant it bolted into the stock lower control arm holes.

A drop-bracket lift will work fine for your needs. On soft sand you'll want a large footprint, so fitting larger tires and airing them down should be what you're after.

A note on the tire size though. You mention 305/70R15 but also mention 17" rims. Note that the tires you specify are for a 15" rim. Make sure you double-check everything before placing an order or you're gonna have a bad time.

So why did you switch from the 6" to the 3"? Did you have to weld the cross member back in?
