I haven't owned one, but the third gen 4Runner in the manual drive amazing.

Also, my 91 Ford Escort GT was super fun.

I knew I owned a car with an amazing shifting tranny but couldn't remember what it was. It was an 89 integra. I think it had almost 200,000 miles on it, and every part was tighter than any new car I've ever driven. It was super fun to drive.

S2000..... Damn. Pretty sure that's one of the only vehicles that only came in stick shift. Maybe the older M5 too.

I have driven many manuals through the years and the best have been Hondas, a 91’ and 21’ Civic. I have owned 3 manual Tacos, have 290K on the 02’ and have proven absolutely bulletproof, never had to repair any part of the trannys, but no where near as smooth as the Civics.

Honda S2000, type R and even the SIs are/were stick only..Honda does it right!! Off-hand I know the following are/were stick only (more recent cars): all Subaru STIs (WRX has auto option), Focus ST and RS trims and fiesta ST, Ford mustang GT350 trim, all Vipers, Porsche Cayman GT4 and Boxter Spyder (except the newest one there is a PDK option), and Lotus Elise/Exige.

I'm researching some caymans. Sound aside, do you think the flat 6 vs the 2.5 turbos is a big deal? Havent driven one yet. There's obviously the 2016 and earlier w/ a 3.4. I'm not going to order a new 4.0. Budget isn't realistically there. So it's a turbo 4 (then open it up w/ exhaust and tune) or find a 2016 w/ the 6.
    Thoughts?

There is just something about the flat six. I sometimes think about upgrading to a newer model but don't want to go to the turbo 4. You probably can't go wrong with either one but the flat six sounds awesome and has been around forever. Good luck!

I guess if I wound up w/ a 2.5 and hated it, I could always do a 4.5 conversion from Deman :spy:

My 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata. It’s got a secret under the hood. GM LFX 3.6 V6 from a 2015 Camaro with a matching trans and a Ford 8.8 rear end. She makes 300hp/285tq and still handles like a Miata. She sees a couple track days a year and a lot of twisty mountain roads!DB9BFF88-93DD-4ED8-AFAA-5356C9075BBF.jpg 3B3170C5-A757-4B0B-9A97-57D76DF1260E.jpg

I don’t have any experience with the 4 turbos but have read lots of great things about them. Check out planet9, great forum with lots of information.

Best manual I've ever driven was my '87 Nissan 300Z. The throws were short, and you never had to hunt for a gear. That car was an absolute pleasure to drive with the sole exception of if there was any kind of snow on the ground.

Absolutely worst manual I've ever driver was a friend's mid '80s Ford Escort.

Other manuals I've had over the years:
    '73 Datsun 240Z
    '89 (?) Isuzu Trooper
    '97 Jeep Cherokee
    '05 Subaru Impreza
    '10 MINI Cooper
