Pulled 3vze out of my 94 4runner yesterday. Replacing all the gaskets. The only things I am not touching are the rotating assembly, oil pump, and water pump. The water pump was installed 50 miles ago.

What is the best way to clean the engine? I have it on a stand, already cleaned off remainders of RTV from oil pan and remainders of head gaskets... I want the exterior to look really good as well. This is an engine from Japan so it was around a lot of salt and humidity and therefore the surface rust. I have used brake cleaner, engine degreaser, and wire brush on a drill, worked out ok. Is there some solution that would break out rust better? Take a Dremel to it?

Maybe a tiger paw on a grinder.
