The other group - and that includes me - are folks who dont want to deal with the size of a full size pickup on a daily basis.

If size and hauling capacity are you primary concern than you probably are not looking at compact pickups period.

    Exactly.

We needed a small truck for around the patch.
The Taco is perfect for what we need.

Looked at the full size stuff and don't need that sort of hauling ability.

Exactly $40k for the FX4 Off Road model, with an MSRP over $50k! That's what I was talking about. The only F-150s I would even consider are the FX4 or Raptor. What Tacoma costs that much, they are not the same in price!

*Why doesn't Ford just offer the truck for 10k less in the first place and stop playing games?

When I was looking at the new F-150s, you could get like 8k off of an XLT but had to jump through all these crazy hoops to get it. And part of the deal was to finance the truck through Ford at some crazy interest rate. The Ford salesman was recommending that I could take the insanely high financing to get the XLT rebate deal, but then re-finance through someone lower afterwards or pay off the un-needed loan myself. That right there really turned me off of the Ford, and made me feel like they were sleezy or trying to trick me into thinking I'm getting a better deal than what I was. Then on the Fx4 that I actually wanted, guess what half the special rebates were gone!

    Based on fueleconomy.gov:

    You're 2011 F-150 5.0 V8 4x4 was rated as 14/16/19 mpg city/combined/hwy.

    The 2011 Tacoma 4.0 V6 4x4 is rated as 16/18/20 mpg city/combined/hwy.

It's close to the same which is really great for a bigger truck with a bigger engine if you need that, but the 5.0 V8 Ford certainly does not get better mileage. :der:

Ford fuel ratings are very tricky, and don't account for the gazillion different axle ratios availible, of which change the fuel economy substantially. My 2011, 5.0 had 3.55 gears and would pull 21 hwy without much effort, in town was about 15.

My 2013 FX4, EcoBoost had 3.73 gears, and could barely get 18 Hwy, and in town was a miserable 11-12.

    Ford has availible as tall as 3.15, 3.31, 3.55 & 3.73's.

Purchase mine in 2005 for $18,300.

KBB say $11,343 for good condition, trade in.

    Edmunds says $8,573

Just received a letter from Larry H. Miller Toyota Boulder that says this.

According to Fair Market Trade-in value your 2005 Tacoma is worth $1,850 BUT Larry H. Miller Toyota Boulder is will you offer $6,996 that's $5,146 more for your vehicle.

Who do they think they will fool with this tactic? No one I hope.

Got my truck for $29,600 OTD in January of 2007.

Last year went to refi the truck for a loan. It was 6 years old and had 105k miles. The bank assessed my truck at $20k

I got my 07 three years ago with 17k miles on it for $22k, and it was valued at $26k. I now have 47k miles and KBB is $24k. Worried about how long the value is gonna stick after the the next gen comes out, next year. :(

Paid $30,700 OTD for my 2014 TRD sport 4x4 in early November. With 7,000 miles & about 9 months on it a different local dealer said they would do an outright buy from me for $28,600. Waiting to see the new Colarado's as although I like the Taco, I still have a few things I just cant get used too.

I just traded in my 2008 DCSB, 4x2 with TRD pkg, 6 disc changer, power everything. It had ~109k miles on it. KBB trade in was around $14600 for good condition. My truck was between excellent and good condition and I had to fight with the dealership to get $13900 for it. The dealership said that because it had over 100k miles on it they could not certify it and had to sell it to a wholesaler. I know I could have sold it outright for more money. It was in excellent mechanical condition and only had minor body dings and paint chip, normal for a truck of that age.

X2. The only decent trucks ford makes are the FX-4, which is basically a Chevy/GMC Z71 which was my last truck, and the raptor. I would never drive a Ford unless it was either these two vehicles. 30k in full size gets you a 40/20/40 split bench seat, if it has 4x4 its a floor shift or something janky. I agree the Tacomas are a little high for what they are, but if you get a lot of your money back when you sell it, who cares. I wanted a full size, but after thinking about it, it's a little overkill for me.

This is what KBB says for private party. I don't like to look at trade in, it's a slap in the face. Besides, It'll be pretty hard for me to explain to a dealer what I did to my 2006 Tacoma. :D Didn't look at Edmunds or NADA or any others. I look every once in a while, just from curiosity.
