Options buddy! It's all about options.

When we take the ATV's to the sand dunes or up in the mountains in the snow for a week or more, it's going to be the F350 with the slide in camper towing the 16.5' x 8.5' Interstate cargo trailer.

Kayak fishing in the ocean while camping at the coast, or some desert exploring with the Tacoma, it's my adventure trailer with a RTT on it.

Two week kayak camping trip down the upper Willamette river, it's a good REI ground tent on the various available islands.

    All about the options.

    Yeah it is!

Would like a bigger truck and a TT, but I can't justify it right now wouldn't use it enough and just see it sit there...there are times I wonder if I need a Tacoma, gets used more as a commuter than anything...though this year going to make more of an effort to get out camping more, the first two years were chaos here, last year work was nuts...work is still nuts but feeling finally settled and into a routine where I can take more time off. My New years resolution is not to work 6 days a week this year. Going to try to try scale it back to 4, but my clients won't let me. Having to turn away work, which I guess is a good thing. "All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy..." :D

This makes me ache for spring. There is 2" of solid ice on my driveway right now. I really need to GTFO of PA.

Moving out of PA was one the best things I have done, good place to grow up though.

Getting lucky this year, the first two pictures were taken on Feb 15 2017. Granted a little higher in elevation, but still! Wasn't able to get in to the high country on the scooters until end of May.

...though the locals say that isn't normal, only snows like that every 30 years. Was a greta season for snowmobiles!

I was thinking the same thing. Add a firemans pole for getting down would be fun. It could double as a stripper pole at night. :taco:

Dudes....for years now, when I go camping I bring an empty laundry detergent bottle with a screw-on lid to piss in. They hold like a gallon if you get the particular type I'm describing, and the hole in the top is huge. Pretty easy to piss in it and not worry about spilling, unless you have a horse dick lol. And when done, screw the lid on and put it back on the floor. Dump/rinse in morning. At most, all you have to do is get on your knees out of your sleeping bag to do it

That's a sleeping pad for camping/backpacking. Specifically a Klymit insulated static v luxe. there are a ton of lightweight inflatable sleeping pad options.

Look at companies like Thermarest, Exped, Big Agnes, REI, Klymit. They all have fantastic options from pads that are budget friendly to really expensive ultralight ones. The Klymit pads are probably the most budget friendly ones if you're not looking for anything crazy light.

Lol could be. Hey, I know this is a weird transition, but I was gonna ask you...what part of Idaho are you in? Some of your pics look pretty familiar to the area my dad lives. Anywhere up near Palisades/Victor/Driggs at all?

    Ha ha!

Other side of the state 30 minutes outside of Boise, I tend to run down to the Owyhees/Eastern Oregon a lot. Probably because the closest trailhead only takes me 20-25 minutes to get to. Supposedly the Owyhee Desert is 2.5 million acres of the least populated area in the lower 48. So real easy to get away from it all. The heavy snow pics are up by Idaho City and Lowman.

Not a weird transition at all since this thread is kinda about camping and travel. What part of AZ are you in? I used to live in Tucson for about 20 years, and I have a lot of friends in the metro Phoenix area and Flagstaff.

Those long AZ summers were killing me, hence the move to Idaho. Nice here, a little bit of everything, want mountains, go one way, want desert go the other. Some areas remind me of AZ just no cactus. And having water in the rivers is a plus! :D

Yeah the parts of Idaho I've been do seem to have it all when it comes to weather and terrain. My dad works at the Palisades power plant, I go visit every summer usually. Lots of mountains to hike or go 4wheeling in. Good fishing on the snake river. Some of the pics you posted in this thread looked just like some of the places we have hiked and camped up there.

I am stationed at Luke AFB, near Phoenix. It is ridiculously hot, that's the one thing I hate about it. It's already getting into the 80s which is just a reminder that the non-stop days of 100+ degrees are approaching fast. I do miss seeing grass and green trees everywhere for sure. And water in the rivers like you said.

But yea the reason I said kind of a weird transition is because of your reply to my original post, which led me to ask you where at in Idaho you are haha.

Some damn good country up this way. I could be wrong, but I think one of my buddies in Tucson who is retired Navy applied for a job where you father works, or at one of the dams out that way, he currently works at one of the observatories in SOAZ. Basically the head guy that keeps the mountain open and running for the astronomers.

Lived in AZ for 20 years, I couldn't take the heat anymore, so we headed North. Idaho is a good compromise, yeah it gets hot, and cold...but not for too long, and nothing too-too extreme. Damn near endless outdoor recreation. Now only if I can do something about that whole work thing getting in the way of getting out and playing.

Ha ha...ahhh yeah....bit of a odd transition now that I think about it, talking about pissing in bottles and horse dicks...and then "Hey bub, where do you live?" LOL!
