I hate chrome when its excessively used, but a little here and there is okay to set things off. When used correctly in styling, it looks good. That goes for any "murdered out" piece on a truck as well.

On another note, my dad and I are restoring an old '54 chevy pickup. Talk about chrome, cars in the 50's were dripping with it, but look great. It was a different time, and the styling cues in those cars do very well with chrome. Once again, I think the problem nowadays is that chrome finish is used in all the wrong places. I think people may find that its not the finish they dislike, but the way its used. just my 2c

I never heard of the term "murdered out" until I saw Murdered Out Taco say it the other day.

As far as the black wheels/accents go, I've been doing it to every vehicle of mine I've ever owned since 1990. I had a '67 Bronco (Ford Blue) with black wheels, rag top and bumpers. It looked sick.

Then my '90 Bronco. Dark tint, black wheels, black bumpers... again badass looking

Then my Legacy wagon. Brilliant Silver Metallic with black wheels, black tint. Pays homage to the muscle car era.

I guess my fascination with the flat black badassery started when I first saw the movie The Road Warrior when I was a kid. Ever since then I knew my trucks would look as if they could run the desert hunting down fuel supplies :)

Again, it's all personal taste. If you don't like it, don't do it. If you like it, do it. *shrugs*

I've never really liked chrome myself. Sticks out too much and seems tacky for my tastes. Just a matter of opinion. I prefer body colored or black accents. Although I'm not really into blacking out the ENTIRE vehicle, although some look good like that. When it comes to wheels is really where I prefer black over chrome. I'd never buy chrome rims ever.

Wow! If someone put a gun to my head and said I had to go back to SWB bumpers, I would have just had the bumpers and sliders painted. No way would I go back to stock. I think that looks bad ass!!!

Chromed motorcycles is what drove me away from chrome. I hated keeping that stuff clean. It's 10 times worse on a bike with all the nooks and crannies.

    It's Harley Davidson...

Chrome don't get ya home. It looks good if done tastefully, personally I don't like a lot of it either.

They both have their place IMO. Mostly, depends on the vehicle, the design motif and it's intended use. Not necessarily even as simple as black for trucks and offroad stuff and chrome for street vehicles either. Preference preference prefence, practicality & maintenance needs all play into it too. As in the post with the chick pics......BOTH ARE GOOD!, even at the same time, sometimes.:D
