What is the fascination with "black"?

I'm all jacked up though. Chrome rear bumper, black sliders, polished aluminum tool box, whatever the hell color the stock TRD alloy rims are. I'm to old for trends and I basically just don't give a shit. Every single mod I've made to my truck is for performance reasons only. When I replace my bumpers, they'll be black because it's easy to spray over scratches.

We had a similiar discussion about switching away from black rims earlier tonight.

 

Any dark colors I like on a truck.(Bronze and Polished looks good too. As long as it matches. I just dislike anything "blingy" on a TRUCK


I think chrome is just a cheap way of making a vehicle look good on the lot.

 

chormes nice, but too much of it just kills it. black matches everything.

Yes, the metal is as expensive as hell. It's a damn sexy metal though. Both its metallurgic properties and its color are badass.

I basically don't give a shit on my truck. I do mods for performance. If I gain looks along the way I consider it a bonus.

If I were speaking of sports, luxury, or muscle cars, I have a whole different attitude.

There might just be a slight difference between a comfort item and an appearance item.

I am for sure not a fan of the cheap black door handles they put on this 25k truck. Other than that I enjoy my bumper and grille being chrome, I do not want chrome wheels but maybe like an aluminum or kind of brushed set myself. No a huge fan of black Tacomas either, I like the silver, speedway blue, and the red is flashy. If I were to get a black truck it would be the Silverado.

 

haha me too, chrome rims, billet grill, tinted tails, limp tint the entire way around, on a white truck? i little of both i guess

 

chrome just reminds me of the dumont sand queen trucks.

 

I think black goes well with any color especially the Tacomas.

 

Man, wouldn't this place be boring if all of our trucks looked exactly alike.....Vive la difference!

 

I had gunmetal wheels and accents on my previous car, I just much prefer dark wheels and accents. Chrome is shiny and not my style, my Bumper and badges are the only chrome left and will be gone soon enough.

I actually like the stock rims painted black. I would do it too but I really don't get excited about spending half to all of a day on a little rattle can action. My wife wouldn't be too thrilled about me in the garage all day either.

 

Well that's certainly encouraging to hear. How much sanding did you do? How many coats of primer and paint did you do? Did you use regular primer or self etching primer? What about the wheel weights? Do you take them off?
