B4 we moved to Az bout 2 years ago. We left 20 year old speed queens behind that still did there thing. House we moved to had 5 year old whirlpool set. Dryer went out and there was no reason to think of another brand then speed queen.

Another bit of good info from the service shop is they know the mom & pop stores that service what they sell and not some contracted service people. Basically the people that sell it to you show up at your house if anything ever needs repair

First friends don't let friends buy samsung. If it wasn't the dryer, then the washer would have given up because they are designed to fail at 3 years.

I came here to say Speed Queen too. So triple yeah, buy Speed Queen.

Buy a Bosch dishwasher. They are known for their reliability and they do an excellent job as well. Had one at our previous house and bought another for the house we're in now.

Definitely steer clear of Costco for any washer or dryer. Samsung and LG in particular have had many issues in recent years.

whirlpool, speed queen and Maytag are what you should be looking at.

Speed Queen for a washer. It actually fills up with water and has an agitator. I've heard the quality isn't as good as it used to be, but they're still way better than the HE models.

Our Speed Queen is a model # AWN412SP111TW01
We replaced our dryer not too long ago with an LG DLE3400W. It's been awesome as well. Made in Korea. :washing:

Also looking at a Maytag, it has the best reviews of the bunch at Lowes, 94% would recommend.

The problem with any recommendations we make on somme appliance we’ve had ,5,10 or even 20 years is it may not be indicative of current models. Speed Queen is a good example of that if you read the whole article. It may be reliable but does it clean well? I like to read reviews by company’s who service the appliances as well as current model reviews.
    https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/speed-queen-review/amp/

One thing I can recommend is don’t buy a samsung refrigerator with the external ice maker, it’s a known problem with their ice makers freezing up, have had ours replaced twice and still issues.

I gave away my 38 year old speed queen gas dryer last year. It worked great! The only repair was a gas solenoid control. It lasted through 4 washing machines. My wife wanted a new matching set. I bought LG units that I can’t stand. It’s not LGs fault but (insert a disallowed political statement about government control here). You have to override the defaults each wash or there isn’t enough water to cover the clothes and the dryer leaves them damp. It’s ridiculous how there’s hardly any savings in energy but how much inconvenience we are forced to endure.

My dishwasher also sucks. The new ones won’t dry plastic.

I’m also to stupid too shut off my mower before I stick my hand under the deck so it shuts off for me.

I’m also forced to shower slower because the amount of water coming out of the head is greatly reduced (now in the valve and not a reducer you remove).

Maybe we should add which soaps we're using, if we have a water softener, and what our city or well water quality is? All of which play a role in cleaning ability and wear and tear on clothes. :bananadead:

In regards refrigerators I've got a French door LG with the freezer drawer on the bottom. I've read the door in door models or ones with a visible window don't keep food cool as well as the non window models. (mine doesn't have the window) :D

We have a Speed Queen washing machine and an old Maytag dryer. Speed Queens aren’t as easy to find, but as far as I’m concerned they are fabulous. I could be wrong, but I don’t think Speed Queens are sold in the big box stores. We have two stores that sell Speed Queens and both are locally owned.

We had two different models of LG Dishwasher --the first was a middle of the price range one (would not clean and broke several times) LG gave up on it and replaced it with their best -this one broke as well. We gave up and went with -near top-of-the-line Bosch. Has been working well for the last 8 or 9 years It had one recall on the plug-in assembly that I took care of myself.
Sorry I have no model numbers for the LG's -they would be outdated now anyway. The Bosch is in the 800 series line

Correct -- only a few stores handle them. My neighbor waited 8 months to get his from an Amish dealer near here. I helped him unload and install them. They seemed very heavily built, but a little research will show some complaints.
I do not know how they are rated by Consumer reports -or if they are tested by them
