    Just went through this...

The problem with SpeedQueen is the super limited capacity. It's hard to justify spending $1500 on a SpeedQueen washer that only holds 3.2 cu ft of laundry. The latest SpeedQueen's are a little nicer and have a modern front panel at least.

The Maytag commercial also gets high votes, but again, small capacity, and completely ugly.

I went with the LG 7300 series, top load washer with agitator. Had a 15% off coupon at HD. Got the matching dryer as well.

The Bosch we have does NOT use an electrical heating coil. It uses just hot air to do the drying. If you leave the dishes in a bit longer after the washer shuts off - the wife usually runs ours when we go to bed or at a time when we know there will be a time period when the dishwasher can sit idle when it's done. We always use a rinse aid, and this gives the dishes a spot free result

I have a 300, so that could be why you don't see it on yours. Maybe the 800 auto adjusts? I was off on the range and factory setting; it's actually 0-6 and factory is at 5.

I like the idea of an extra filter and running the dirty one through a cycle. I'm going to order one and do that. Pulling the filter out, for those who don't have one, couldn't be easier or faster. Open the DW door, slide the bottom rack out, reach down to the bottom of the tub, twist the filter a quarter turn and it pops out. About a 10 second operation.

You don't need to prewash, just scrape big things off. Also, they have a pretty infrequent filter wash schedule, but I'm with @jsi - I wash it more frequently.

Any recommendations for oven/ranges gas or electric? I'm planning on swapping out a 13 plus year old electric GE Profile (JS968SKSS) that came with the house as the heating elements are screwed up on the cook top and the oven. I'd like to switch to gas, but would stick with electric if the product/price was good.

The newer GE profile stuff isn't what it used to be. As a matter of fact I went through 2 GE refrigerators (one regular, then one GE Profile and neither one would chill below 40 degrees) before I ended up with my LG LMXS28626D refrigerator. The LG fridge has been fantastic.

For my new house, i went with a new US made Maytag top load agitator. I use powdered Tide detergent, 1/4 cup or so, premixed in hot water. I almost always wash in cold. Apparently that is the best environmental and fiscal way to ckean clothes. Yes, I care about that. I hang dry indoor or out. Indoor with a fan going. Haven't used a dryer more than 10 times in the past decade. Only for finishing GoreTex kr if needed. Dryer is a Maytag as well. My rental place has a Kenmore washer tgat has worn out a set of pawls. I'd look for another one in a heartbeat

Our Jenn-Air dual fuel range died about a year ago. We are on a mission to replace appliances with as much non-electronics as possible. Not easy. But the Speed Queen dryer was the start and works well. The range is a bit more difficult. It seems, to get a dual fuel (electric convection oven and gas burners) without the fancy electronics, you have to go with very expensive model. Think Wolf or Thermidor. We did find a few that are more reasonable - Zline, Thor - but we weren't ready to pull the trigger yet. So we bought the largest Breville countertop oven and have been using that.

Are you looking for a duel fuel, slide in, or...? Not sure what your budget is and what type you're looking for. My parents got a GE dual fuel and love it, but that was 5 or 6 years ago so maybe things have changed.

My comment on brands of ranges as ours is/are 11 years old and have done fine. Also we have a gas cooktop - Dacor brand -expensive -all American brand -gets some bad reviews although we have had no problems with it. Built in oven -LG. No problems except in the beginning when it was stored in my garage (separate from house) and I think I brought a mouse nest in with it and those guys blocked some air flow and caused an overtemp fuse to blow -no problems since except the inside halogen dammed light bulbs which my wife likes to leave on to proof bread. (even though this oven has a proof cycle?) Thes bulbs are UNGODLY expensive. AGAIN, these are both 10-11 years old
One more point in all this appliance talk -- I am pretty sure neither GE or Maytag are owned by their founding companies.
GE was bought out by Electro-lux a few years back, and the Maytag name is owned by Whirlpool. Check this out if you wish, but this was true a ways back

Thanks to environmental energy saving laws about 10 years ago, all dishwashers must use condensation drying instead of a heating coil and fan. Plastics don't have the mass the glass, ceramic, and metal does so it doesn't store leftover heat from the hot water to aid in drying. I will often open the door for an hour after the dishes are done and let them air dry before putting them away. That's about all you can do.

Repairclinic.com. Check it out . Choose appliance type. Brand . Enter model number . They list some problems and have videos on how to fix and also sell OEM parts.
I had a problem with my Kenmore washer. Didn’t sound right after rise or around there . Looked it up . Shift actuator was the issue. I was convinced this was the problem but did feel like throwing parts at it . 9 years old HE unit. Called sears anyway and when tech did a bunch of BS he said that he was going to get a part out of van. I said the actuator , right ? Yep . $400 later I said I would fix that thing myself if it should happen again.
Overloading the wash with less water seemed the cause.

Had a issue with a GE microwave with the door and control switches. I ordered parts to fix from them and decided im redoing my kitchen anyway and didn’t bother. Helpful customer service from them. They sent me a diagram on how to disassemble unit

Edit : We’ve had our kenmore wash / dryer high efficiency units and we like them. There are only the two of us however so we wouldn’t know about constant use that goes with a full house

Well, if my kitchen wasn't already completely remodeled when I bought the house, I would do a double wall mounted oven and a separate gas cook top. With that said, my current slide in setup is all electric. I could tap a gas line and run it about 5 feet to where the GE oven is now without much effort and for me it would be worth it.

So yes, dual fuel would be ideal. A slide in preferably with a gas cook top and an electric oven. Double oven doors would be a bonus. So far the LG setups look nice, but yes pricey at about $2800 give or take. With about 28 1/2" of depth and about 31 1/4" of width I think any options for higher end Wolf, Viking, or Thermidor would be extremely limited or probably wouldn't fit. Although, I haven't really researched those yet. :hungry:

Only thing we don’t like is not having an agitator. But as long as I don’t overload with low water it seems to do ok.
As far as the toilet goes, I hold the handle down and drain the tank completely when I flush. If I don’t only about half the water is all I have to flush

Maytag. But get one with the agitator in it! The one we have doesn’t have an agitator and I swear everything gets all tangled up! Minor nuisance I suppose, but nuisance nonetheless! Other than that, no complaints. .02

I hold down the Number 2 button for everything including piss and it rarely if ever gets the job done in one flush. Oh and it takes like 20 minutes to fill back up. I hate it lol

My 2 cents, if water goes through it, do not buy samsung. Washers, dishwasher, fridges (ice maker).

Not sure if anybody else does this , but I shut off the water supply every time after I use my washer.
