What is the reason the USA cannot get the TRD-OR AC with a manual?

Here's a screenshot from Canada's Toyota site (see below). I will not buy another Tacoma until I can get this package. Is there any reason why the USA is not as lucky as Canada with this regard?

I tried with several Canadian dealerships and they pretty much told me NO. I think you need a Canadian address to purchase one, anyway. Good suggestion, tho.

They get some configurations we cant get, we get some they cant get. Probably based off previous sales numbers or projected use or maybe parts. Seems stupid to me also. If you're building trucks in Mexico and shipping them through the states to Canada how hard would it be to drop any configuration off? You can buy a 2nd gen in that configuration or buy a sport and change the suspension and add a locker and you'd probably better off than the stock off road. I also looked into importing since that would be my ideal configuration as well but I think the truck has to be at least 10 years old or something, cant remember. I guess you can hope for the 4th gen but seems as though access cabs are falling to the wayside as well as manuals so I wouldn't hold your breath.

It was a condition of Canada joining NATO, that we get access cab MTs, with a locker.

This is nothing new. It’s been this way since the launch. One of the rare benefits of living in Canada I guess.

Good point(s). However, I owned a Sport and adding a locker was a no-go because it uses an odd rear diff. ARB was considering the offering, but it was still undecided at the time. Thanks!

That would be a better configuration than a TRD Pro 6spd manual. You can't buy any Tacoma in Japan. I think a SR or SR5 V6 6spd manual 4x4 wirh a rear locker would be a better configuration for the access cab, and get rid of the rear seat. Toyota builds a double cab if you want a rear seat.

Toyota originally marketed the 3rd gen Tacoma as a desert race truck.

I’d have to check if the SR or SR5 has that wacky rear diff like in the Sport. ARB makes lockers for the common 8” Toyota rear diff, but not for the 8.5” in the Sport.
