Tires sounds reasonable. I have had several vehicles where the tires got slight flat spots when sitting overnight in the cold. Once the tires warm up and the rubber gets more pliable the flat spots disappear.

Oh, you might try sliding the transmission into neutral while coasting...... Don't put it back in gear until you have stopped.

Have the same sound like the right drive axle is banging around at slow speeds. Dealer tried to say it was my sunglasses in the overhead holder. It's definitely not the tires.

Got the same noise, wife noticed it on the test drive. Definitely not tires, upgraded to all terrains shortly after purchase and it's still there. It has gotten a lot quieter over the past year, not sure if that's good or not.

Get your dealer to road force test your tires, it's the tires.

This sound is not good. Open a case with Toyota, your transfer case is the problem. This can also be the culprit to some of the shifting problems some people are having.Goodluck dealing with the dealership.

The only way to tell if it is the tires is to have them road force tested. The transfer case isn't the culprit, it could be your driveshaft though. Out of balance or unweighted from factory, my guess would be bad tires or driveshaft wobble.

I Had this problem, Toyota replaced my transfer case. At first I thought the same, but it's not the driveshaft or tires. service center ruled that out.

I have a similar sound when cold. Its a higher frequency than the tire rotation, so it must be at the drive shaft frequency. Thinking either rear end or Tcase. I'm keeping an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

OP I have a 2016 TRDOR 4x4 and mine does it also. I've wondered what it was also. Mine feels like I have mud terrain tires while coming to a stop also. I think mine is the tires but haven't had time to get it to the dealer yet.

post one explains how it will sound. Mostly heard when approaching a stop. Not all trucks are effected by this issue, production dates play a big role.

M80 Taco. That is what my first thought was, is the tcase. I took it to Toyota when the noise first started. But they couldn't get the truck to make the noise. It still makes the noise. It more annoying than anything

Glad to see this thread, as I have the same sound with mine that I bought a few months ago. I hear mine not only when decelerating, but also accelerating, both times as you pass roughly 20mph. Gets higher pitched as I accelerate, lower pitched as I decelerate. I have my first maintenance checkup due soon and will see if they can figure out what it is. Not super concerned about it, but it's annoying.

Take the service manger for a ride, then ask a technician to go as well, it the only way. Otherwise they will say it's normal.
