My sound happens when in 2wd, 4wd, when in neutral or drive , engine on, engine off, i hear it mostly when coming to a stop 20mph and below.
Completely stock 2016 Limited, I'm leaning towards bearing issues, in for 15000 mile check next week and will complain again
about this issue as Toyota "Quality" is in question. Dealership replaced front brake pads last week as heavy shuddering occurred when in steep downhill grades then on level surface after picking up truck from original complaint of pulsating brakes. Why didn't they do that first time around, drove it right back 45 minutes after pickup. They still didn't diagnose sound though.

^^This^^ should solve it for most folks, I noticed the cable's close proximity on my first inspection.
Other than that, I'd look for something stuck on the shaft at some point, and check/torque all U-bolt, U-joint bolts, hanger bearing fasteners to specs.

Initial quality reports are low for this generation so your story checks. I've had multiple visits to the dealer to fix squealing brakes and problems with the rear drums

My stealer is still sending me service reminders since they haven't seen me since I bought the truck from them 21k miles ago.

But there hasn't been a need to see them.

Are you on your brakes while slowing down? Out-of-round brake drum in the rear?

Spot on, mine does the exact same thing and it drives me nuts. I cant find the problem, Ive put in the ecgs bushing, got new tires, road force balanced the tires, alignment and so far nothing has worked. I am lost at this point and just turn up the radio.

Not the control cable rubbing i checked that. And dust cover rubbing on rotor is not the issue.

anyone have any updates on this?

I replaced my difs... so it cant be those..

I think its warped drums that (when cold) cause that womp sound...

I also have a major clunk in my shifting when its cold from 2nd to 1st when coming to a stop at regular speed (when its cold) the clunk is really harsh and feels like its slamming into gear

There was mention of a transfer case being replaced, but that member hasn't followed up. I think it's still unresolved.

I thought torque converter or transfer case related... i wish I could find out.. I think the slamming into gear is what is potentially causing the rear ends to explode.. or at lease not helping the issue

In my 2016 4x4 4 door, that noise (whoop whoop whoop) at 18-24 mph is the transfer case. Diagnosed
by stethoscope. Known bad bearing by Toyota, but dealers won't honor and fix. Drives
    me nuts.
