The main guy I’m talking about if watched for over 20 years. If he’s really trying to get fancy he will air back down and turn the tire on the rim to get better numbers. I honestly don’t know the exact things he does with the weights but I’ve seen him move them to require less. He’s been using the same machines basically all his life, his family owns the shop.

I've got over 20 yrs experience in the field and know all the little tips and tricks he has. Which is why I challenged you assumption of knowing the technical around and what makes a good tire shop and a good balance.

I won’t claim to be a tire or wheel guy.
All I know is, the shop I had them done at dropped the price $180 to match the price of a competitor.
I’m not unsatisfied with the balancing. And didn’t ask for them to be balanced a certain way.
Like I say, I never seen a weight like the one in the pic.
Everything seems fine, so I’m happy.

Still like to know what it was I picked up and threw.
It was definitely HARD and made a loud smack. LOL

I honestly doubt the kids at discount are the best in their field. That’s all I’m saying. Most people who mount and balance tires don’t make a career out of it, those that do I would consider good at it. Same can be said for front end guys. They use computers to get in the green but on our lifted trucks it takes someone who knows what they’re doing to get it right.
