Temp / compass? I can't tell where it is exactly from the pic. Also a bluetooth mic might go there.

The connector is for a "Home Link Mirror" or a mirror with out side temp and compass.

This is right above the headliner at the front of the car right above the rear view mirror. When you remove the map light assembly (that is where the blue tooth mic is) you will see this connector just sitting there.

homelink is still nice to have - I can get the temp on my head unit from entune so I'm ok with that, but being able to open the garage would be nice with no need for a remote

Does the lead have 12V and ground? I need to hard wire my radar/laser detector and I presumed there would be a power lead there in my 2015 TRD DCSB, but it's nice to know for sure. It would be easy to replace the fitting to something I could readily mate to and that would sure be better than having to tie into the light leads.

Not sure - I didn't test the connector or anything, just saw it there and left it alone.

    That's OK. I can't imagine it not having at least a 12V.

Wait so you're saying there is a temp reading on the entune unit? I did a test drive the other day and I didn't even see that anywhere on the screen. I was complaining to the sales guy that not having a temp sensor or home link was kinda lame. I may have to check it out again. If you wouldn't mind, can you snap a pic of it and post? I was reading other threads about doing a mod for a temp sensor with the mirror

I know that on my Entune Premium, I can only get temperature through the weather application and that isn't the temp being read from a sensor on the car, but conditions being reported somewhere "nearby". Where I'm at, that may be nowhere near my actual position. (I do like getting the weather radar, though!) Why they couldn't just throw a cheap thermocouple or thermister in the dang vehicle and provide a read-out is beyond me. Such a simple setup that almost every other vehicle has standard anymore. One of these days I'll put one in, but I don't have a powered mirror, so I'm not sure where and how I'm going to do that yet!

Yes, it can be used for a temp and compass. I bought a used mirror on this forum that toggles between temp and compass. Plugged right in and works just fine!

It was as simple as plug and play?

Yeah I'd love to have a compass and temp reading somewhere! Auto dimming doesn't matter because I have 5% tint in the rear.

Homelink & other rearview mirrors for the 2009-15 Tacomas & other Toyota's

This is where I bought the mirror. I wanted one that only shows the temp or with a push of a button, the direction because the digits for the temp display is the largest. My 2015 stock mirror had nothing. You just remove the overhead console, fish out the plug, plug it in and you are good to go.
There is a setting on the compass to program what "zone" you are in for a more accurate reading. The one I have also has auto dimming. Bob has many types to choose from.

I hard wired my radar detector from that wire, as well as an Homelink style auto dimming mirror. That was a plug and play application. Got this mirror because I would always have to squeeze my fat finger between my detector and the standard mirror. So I got one on fleabay for cheap. Now I don't worry about jacking with it when I'm driving.

Aw man, it was sounding to me like everything was already there except for a mirror to display the temp/direction.
