It's for a pen that's what I personally keep in there but I've heard members on the forum say that you can keep the tailgate key they give you in that same spot.

 

Tire pressure gauge or pen.

Like 17tacosport said, I slide my tailgate key down into it. Fits pretty nicely.

I tried keeping mine there, and in the first week it seemed to wiggle out 2-3 times. it seemed like it only went in one way, but maybe I wasn't putting it in right? can you post a pic or two of how you have yours? i'd love to put mine back there, but just didn't like digging for it when I needed it.

Except that pencil-type pressure gauges are almost universally terrible. I'd go with pen or pencil. Honestly, I didn't even notice that on my 2017. It's on the under side of the console lid?

 

I didn't even know it existed until now.

 

I know this is off topic of this thread but do the 3rd Gens have a leather case for the Owners Manual? My 2015 had a freaking yellow envelope with it stuffed in there, I guess the cost cutting was getting ridiculous.
