They don't budge at all if I push in on them.

I'm sure, same with my XJ. However, this exposed "foam" seems defective to me. Should I take it in or will they look at me like I have two heads?

Hm, my dealership actually has horrible service reviews so I doubt they'd be of any assistance. Maybe I will reach out to Toyota...all 4 are exactly the same and they are not loose as far as I can tell.

If it's a lease I would take it in to the dealer and let them fix it. Then it's on record that it was pre-existing.

On my SR5 there is no foam showing at all. These flares should have a tight fit to the body of the truck.

Tons of dealers around here that I could go to. I think I may reach out to Toyota just to get something in writing to make my visit a little more convincing.

BTW I don't know why I thought this was a lease...I've been going back and forth between several threads :goingcrazy:

Haha, because it is. I had to edit the first post and I accidentally deleted the first couple of sentences so I may have left that out the second time. I'm changing everything up on 'ya cause I got pissed that you thought it was wax ;-)

I'll let you all know how it goes. I have bad experiences with "minor" stuff like this (had three Verizon store employees laughing at me once about a real issue) so if anything happens where they essentially tell me to get the 'f out I'll contact Toyota corporate. It's just so bizarre that it would happen on all 4, at the same time.

Yeah! It is, but I have bad OCD and driving around knowing there's this weird issue is driving me mad. Still want it to be nice! I have this whole thread as documentation, lol!

The car wash I brought it to had those spinning machine things mixed in with guys using brushes.

I would skip those car washes, with a black truck it’ll be swirl city in no time.

Yep, it swirled the shit out of it. I'm still bitter about that, too. Lesson learned...

As a fellow black taco owner, my advice is to try not to sweat it too much. I 2 bucket wash mine (no where near often enough) but I’ve still got swirls and some light pinstripes. It’s pretty much inevitable, I just try to minimize it.

    Also, welcome!

I'll forget about 'em. As my lease goes on, I'll probably wash the exterior less and less and just do interior cleanings as I tend to do with my vehicles. They aren't bad by any means but you better believe they are there and it could have been avoided!

Thank you. I'm very happy with all the responses I got so far!

I just noticed that I have that separation on one of my fender flares as well (with the foam showing). I'm wondering if I should try pushing it in or wait until my 5K service and have the dealership patch it up.

Interesting. I really don't feel like bringing it in but I'm going after work today just to get the process started cause it'll just drive me nuts otherwise. Do you have a photo of yours?
