So on the way home from work I hit a cone in the road.
Ever time i slowed down i heard a ticking from some thing rubbing.
After looking under truck I found the gas tank heat shield was rubbing on the drive shaft, it had got bent and a plastic part that holds it in was broke.
The piece has a slotted head like a screw but does not screw out.
I tried to take a different one out so i could move it to this spot.
Can anyone tell me where i can locate fastener.
Yup it was my fault instead of going around i thought I could go over cone.
The second pic is what the fastener looks like, it holds the shield to the tank

I looks like the one there may be ok. If you can release the center pin, then work the captive part out of the hole, you should be able to reuse it. They are cheap if you can't do that, but it will have to come out regardless.

The sheet metal will have to be reshaped to rest flat against the hole area w/o any strain for the pushpin to be able to retain it easily.

Not a hard fix, but it could be a bit finicky to get adjusted. So let patience prevail.

I got the metal back in shape and lined up.
Just have to figure out which pin to use
Tried taking out a different one but I’m afraid of breaking it

    Thanks

That looks like the heat shielding for the gas tank, I believe those are permanently attached. You may have to get clever with some epoxy to reattach it, i wouldnt drill or put any screws there.

Lowes carries some of those types of automotive fasteners. You may be able to find something there that will work.

    Problem solved
I bought a assortment pack of retainers
Used biggest one but had to pry it out because it was to long
Cut it shorter and it fit perfect
Ill have to see if it holds
