It looks to me like some kind of 7 pole trailer socket. Has your truck ever been towed?

Aftermarket installed female end to a trailer plug. That style is typically used on boat trailers with lights. That is not a plug for a trailer with brakes. You can remove it and it won’t effect anything. It’s most likely spliced into your tail lights and then grounded somewhere on the chassis. It’s not going to hurt anything though so just leave it alone.

I wouldn't think so since those wires should really just be receiving power input signals for brake lights and turn signals. It can't hurt to follow the wires before cutting just to be safe. If there is anything tied to a power source it could cause a short. Just speculating I've never actually wired one up.

Oh and I found the cause of a loud rattling metallic sound going over pot holes around 15-25 mph is this bumper bracket

It's not a 12v socket? Weird place for trailer lights since it's in the front. And looks like only 3 wires.

It's so the tow vehicle can hook his pigtail/lights to the tow vehicle and when he brakes your brake lights would come on. I wouldn't just cut it. I'd follow them to the source and remove completely if you don't want it there.

    remove battery Negative cable
Cut connector off, pull the wires out from close to the source as you can and then snip, cap with wire nut, rubber tape ends
