I fired up the heater in my truck for the first time today and within one mile I had warm air coming from the vents. How did they do this? In the past most vehicles had to run for a while to bring engine temp up before getting any heat....

Um it's not winter or cold yet so it didn't take much time to generate heat.

It is currently 35 degrees here and it is trying to snow/sleet ;) Still damn fast even if it was warmer.

I found my truck to heat rather slowly last year, but I lived in MN and it was parked outside.

Wow, that is not right, return to toyota IMMEDIATELY! Common 3rd gen problem is the exhaust gas is rerouted into the HVAC system somehow, why do you think the air was warm so fast?

Has to do with all the dead and rotting mice decomposing in the as yet unused heater core. After you've blown all the festering pestilence into the drivers face it will return to normal warm up times waiting for the thermostat to open...

Hey at least they got the heat right compared to the rear diffs, front LCA howl, CPS Failure, transmission issues, leaking sun roofs.

Funny my AC cools off almost immediately here in Arizona. 115° outside, 70° in the truck. Sometimes its so cool I turn on my heated seats.:D

I think someone is using your truck while you are sleeping, just getting it back in time before you would notice, hence already warmed up.

Keep a log of your mileage, and maybe a motion activated security camera....

Jk, glad you heat is working....always nice to hear a positive report....

The morning after I bought the truck it was cold and I had not yet had a chance to fool with the climate controls so I put the heated seats on and they were awesome!

I suspected that for the heat and defrost there is am electric heater in there somewhere to speed up warm air.

It could be due to the cylinder head design (V6).. the exhaust "tubes" from each cylinder are cast into the heads and cooled by surrounding water jackets. There are no exterior headers on this engine, just one big oval port per head. Just a theory..
