What is this space for? Looks like something should be bolted to those three studs.

It looks like something should be attached? handy place for a toolkit, if nothing else.

    Very cool, and thank you.
Any problems with fabbing an in-compartment tool box? Is there something that people usually put there?

Probably not. But the ABS module is not very big or heavy.

I'd consider better bolts and make braces if you go too heavy on the tool box.
The plate is what holds the bolts. And plate is just tack welded.
It will likely be ok. But be aware and take that in to consideration.

It would be just be a 3/8 drive, 2 and 6" extension, a U-joint adapter, half a dozen sockets, 2-3 open end wrenches, maybe a multi-tip screwdriver, needlenose, flashlight, and a torx set? 15#/7kg tops. Maybe a can of penetrating oil and a towel to keep everything quiet. Also, I like to know where my towel is. Sort of a GTFO kit for the truck.
Hell, I can even fasten a magnet under the lid to hold bolts and screws. I can point the magnet towards the hood and it'll make the box even lighter.

    THat last bit was joke.
