Hmm. What is this bolt/stud? (See pics.)

In the course of reinstalling my timing belt cover, after resealing my water bypass pipe (different thread), I looked down and observed the below. This appears to be a bolt or stud on the passenger side of the water pump, pulleys, belts, etc.

My water pump and timing belt were replaced 3.5 years ago by a non-dealership using non-OEM parts.

The pics is as if you were standing in front, looking at the engine.

That is where the bracket for you power steering pump mounts. You are missing something.

My concern is that my local friendly shop left something off, when replacing the water pump/timing belt.

Okay... That is not a stud mounted to the bracket you are seeing. It is a stud that protrudes through the bracket to secure it. There should be a nut and washer on it to hold the power steering bracket in place. It may have wiggled off.

The missing nut/washer secures the PS pump adjusting strut.

Apparently, you can run indefinitely without that nut...

Yes if you look at the mark on the bracket through which the stud goes through you can see where there would be a nut and a washer. Not a big deal. It's just a nut that locks the bracket down as the stud is used as a pivot for adjustment.

So, for the record, that nut is 11mm x 1.5 pitch. Which is NOT a common size. I got Fastenal to order me one special. A $2.50 nut! Plus $1 shipping, so a $3.50 nut! Oh well, it's on there now.

dealer would have most likely had one in stock for about the same price. Glad you got it sorted.

Okay, guess what? This is nearly unbelievable. I found that nut! Today, I dropped one of the timing belt cover bolts. (Which remains lost, BTW!) Guess what I found lying on the upper side of the front horizontal frame cross-member, while I was searching for the stupid bolt?

And it's been riding around right there since June of 2014, when I had my water pump and timing belt replaced!! And, although I don't off-road, there are way plenty of bumpy paved roads that I run...

Wow that is crazy that you found it. I was also missing this nut and had to make about 3 trips to the hardware store to get one that would fit. Having the proper one sent to me from Gunny but it must be a common one to wiggle off.
