What is this stuff on my new truck?

Dealers typically outsource this crap to an indie shop or have someone come in, because their hourly rate is lower than dealer techs. That's why fixing mistakes or refunds are like pulling teeth.

The overspray does no harm. Meanwhile Goo Gone can hurt clear coat. I'd leave it alone. The first off-road trip will give the truck plenty of pinstripes that the residue will seem negligible by comparison.

UPDATE:
Just got the truck back from the dealer who sent it to a body shop (no cost to me.) They had them claybar the entire truck, they got all the overspray off from the body, but still some left on the wheels/windows. 80% done. Didn't want to deal with the hassle of taking it back again so will just leave it at that. I think i can clear up the rest myself one afternoon. No idea what the stuff was but the body it is now as smooth as a baby's ass (as a new body should be) and not rough to the touch.

 

Reminds me of my car when the town employee morons decided to repaint the crosswalk in front of my house on a windy day.

 

That entire invoice is nothing but a ripoff, people are so gullible…

 

And car dealers wonder why people have such a negative image of them. Seems like it's well deserved to me.

 

It’s not being gullible, it’s a lack of supply. Either you pay a $10K markup or you get nickel and dimed with these smaller markups. If you don’t like either of those options, you don’t get a Tacoma right now. Stuff like paint protection is a huge profit maker for the dealer, and they’ll flat out refuse to sell if you don’t want their options.

 

Not necessarily. I paid MSRP on my 22 and got them to remove all those nonsensical add ons except the nitrogen filled tires. Just gotta shop around and/or be willing to travel. I drove almost 2 hours to get the deal I felt was acceptable. Plus they gave me $2500 more for my trade than the places closer to home.

 

All that shit is added to the MSRP price of 38k+?? WTF.... "But look at the good side of getting bent over, you have "Paint Renewer Cleaner" is splooged all over your truck

When I was shopping I called my local independently owned dealer (not autonation or any chain) because they had a TRDOR on the lot.

ME: Are you guys adding on a $5K market adjustment like all those other assholes?
THEM: No, we don't do that.
ME: Cool, so I can come down right now and buy that TRDOR for sticker?
THEM: No, we have whats called the "Adventure Package"
ME: ?
THEM: We install TRD wheels, bigger tires, a new grill, and you get 5 years of free oil changes
ME: What's that cost?
THEM: $8,999
ME: What if I don't want $1,600 worth of stuff for $8,999?
THEM: You don't have a choice...that's the only way we sell the truck

@lbhsbz I did that with every place that said they charge over sticker or that wouldn't answer my question about charging over. If more people would stand firm against this nonsense it would stop.

yeah just walk in there and raise a fuss.... they can ignore emails and other messages cause you aren't there.......they just want to get people in to buy and then send them to the curb to handle the next buyer
