What is this? It’s on the tweeter cover on the passenger side. I have been hearing an annoying rattle from here recently so I took it all apart to see if something was loose and this was loose. It’s clipped in to the cover but not tightly. Is it something that I can just take off or glue on so it doesn’t rattle?E152CC81-C67C-489F-8517-91EFC39835C4.jpg

If you had auto headlights the sensor would be where that plug is.

Ohhhhhh. That makes sense. I was thinking some sort of thermostat. I didn’t know Tacoma’s had auto lights.

Try slipping some type of thin malleable shim on one or more of the clips or under a corner of the housing cowel to tighten up the gap or the clips in hopes of addressing the rattle. Or crank the volume up.

I just popped it out. I’m gonna drive like that for a while to see if that is it. If so I’ll probably just leave it out. Doesn’t seem to hurt anything. Maybe I’ll try to figure out how to get auto lights

Mine rattled like a SOB too. I put a couple slivers of electrical tape beneath it and snapped it back it. No rattles since.

It's probably there to prevent sunflower seeds and ear plugs from falling down into the dash.

Lol that’s really specific. But I get what you’re saying. Good call. I’ll tape it like the other fella was saying.

I have a rattle in the exact same place and need to pull that entire piece off. Can you please provide me step by step instructions how to get it out? I am talking the entire grill. Thanks!

    1. Unbolt the passenger grab handle on the A pillar.
    2. Pull off the plastic trim from the A pillar.
    3. Lift the speaker cover out of the dash.

Plastic auto trim removal tools are very handy for this.
Search for the tweeter upgrade thread and you can see pics of the removal.

Don't bother, I used them one night. Damn high beams were going on and off like a teenager in a whore house.

I thought auto headlights was different than auto high beams?

I have auto high beams but Didn’t like it, I guess I live in the wrong area to be beneficial. Now I do wish I had auto headlights though!

They are different. Auto headlights is part of the premium package for sports and offroads. It's standard on pro's and limited's. Auto high beams is part of the Toyota safety sense and is standard on all 2018+ Tacoma's.
