Odd.. My 2.4 has a different vapor canister (more cylinder shaped) and where that line is coming from on the intake is simply capped off.

EVAP canister. I ran my 98 with the 3.4 without it hooked up for a long time. Didn't throw any codes. It's not a big deal. Just hooked up to the side of my airbox.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll just keep it hooked up for peace of mind since that's where it belongs in the first place.

just google "tiny air filter". better off googling "small air filter" though.

Hey, I know this thread has been dead for a few months but I didn't want to start another thread about this part. I've noticed my EVAP canister buzzes intermittently after I turn the engine off. Has anyone else ever had this problem? There aren't any codes on. Does this part need to be changed?

check the purge valves first. they may be slightly stuck open and sort of "whistling" as the air dies out from being on. if you know its not the purge valves and is coming from inside the canister, you should probably change it.

Yeah its a common thing on the earlier tacos like yours. The newer ones have a slightly different lil doodad on the canister to help remidie the noise. It should be pretty easy to find a couple threads on the subject that even have pics of the slight change of the canister. I know they're on here.

    No worries though, it's harmless...

ok, I'll do a little more searching around to see if I can find some more info/pictures of it. Can you just replace it with one of the newer ones with no problems? Thanks for the quick replies!

I think so, i believe its the exact same thing just with that updated piece. They are very expensive to get new at the dealer. Youll have to get lucky at a junk yard or live with yhe noise.
