What is this?

Not Tacoma related, but does anyone know what this is? My son bought an F150 and we are trying to figure it out. We're thinking it could be a mic for voice command. No markings to identify and we don't know if it's factory ( can't find anything in owners manual) or aftermarket. Any ideas?

 

Auto start??!? Should have a custom fob if so.

Look under the dash and see what it's plugged into.

 

If it was me and I didn't have the fob for it, I'd unplug it.
It looks quite a bit like the antenna for the Viper alarm/remote start that I have for my '40.

Bought it from a Ford dealership. Vehicle was a trade in. Will reach back out to them now that we have an idea of what it is. Thanks

 

That might be a thing that you can remote start the truck with your cell phone.

 

For the costs of a remote replacement along with reprogramming by the stealership, go with an aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry and remote start.

 

Factory Ford alarm that's built by Code Alarm. Code Alarm has been making factory Ford alarms for decades. It is a aftermarket full fledged alarm. It uses its own remote control which is available from Ford and from Code Alarm.

Have that dealership give you a fob for it free of charge,they should of made sure they got it from the owner at trade in.
