    It's not Obama's fault...or Bush's fault...and surely not Romneys fault...

but one must agree that the most of the media would be in full attack mode if a conservative/republican was in the white house for the past 3.9 years and the price had doubled since he took office...

    with the current administration...

    crickets.

while I agree that more domestic drilling and production would be a good thing...

you must understand the larger picture. much of the domestic oil would still be sold to the world markets.

still, many feel flooding the market would result in a lower total at the pump price....I'd be wiling to give it a shot.

but currently we are being hosed by the traders/speculators. and the taxes placed on the fuel at both the fed and state levels.

lower the taxes...eliminate the corn...elimate the seasonal & regional fuels...pass laws keeping much/most of the domestic oil in US markets only...and regulate the crap out of the speculators...

and gas at the pump would be about a buck a gallon...all it is really worth.

Find it odd that when the price on a barrel was over $100 last year too & gas was $3.25 a gallon, don't see how that = $5.00 a gallon now...

If by "greedy ceo's and what not" you mean oil company excutives...I do not agree.

I hope someday you have the resume to support a 3 or 4 million dolar salary...

the government makes more on a gallon of gas than the oil company's do.

On a side note Costco's gas prices were 65 cents a gallon less than anywhere else in the area yesterday so Im not really understanding why all the others are skyrocketed.

As you get older, you'll find out more and more things that your teachers just pulled out of their asses with no factual information to support it.
Government, Poly-Sci, and Philosophy are among the worst, but economics profs are not immune to allowing emotion to cloud their teachings.

The majority of our oil comes from up north, out of Canada.

i do believe we get a lot of our oil from canada, ...and this is probably increasing w/ tapping into the oil sands...

the problem in kalifornia right now, is not just that refinery shutdown issue, but also the kludge of ridiculous regulations required to supply "their" blend of gasoline... thus making any supply interruption all the more impactful...

How the hell is gasoline spiking by in some cases over $1/gallon, 30 days before the election, going to HELP Obama?
