What is up with these mudflaps??

Sorry guys, did a search but came up with 1000 threads. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat. Anyway, what is up with these mudflaps on the GenII's? My god, I go to launch the boat to go duck hunting and the friggin' things are scraping every single rock. I broke the passenger rear clean off the other day, which I luckily found later, because they are $100 with the hardware. My GenI, I never heard those things once. Could drive over a stone wall and not hear anything rubbing. I'd love to take them off, but it's just not an option especially in NH in the winter.

You guys all wheel a lot more than me... and serious wheeling too. I am going to hunting spots and boat launches (rough and rocky, not paved launches) and in the winter snowmobiling parking spots which can be somewhat back country. I've seen the threads on cutting them down, but they are still too rigid. Does anyone have a good option for something that protects fairly well and isn't made out of rock hard plastic?

I think my buddy was right when he shook his head at me when I told him I bought a new Tacoma. He shock his head and said "too bad they de-trucked the Tacoma." I'm beginning to believe him.

They're too long. Cut some length off them, and use the bottom portion you cut off, as a stencil to clean up the edges/end of the remaining flap.

Also, a good pair of scissors and use of your pimp hand gets the job done too. Less cleaning up of the edges. That's how I trimmed mine.
