Okay I'll play. Since I bought the truck used a year ago (110k) I keep a mole skin that I write done every fill up cost, gal and mileage. So I can do quick checks on MPG.
Now the commute.. I drive 120 miles a day round trip to work, All highway. Different speeds range from 55/60 to 65/70 mostly 60 through. I drive kind like a grandpa just really cautious since they're lots of Tourist drivers (damn utahards) and large animals everywhere.
Here are the specs: 2005 Stock 140k with tow package, new Toyo ATII 245, Leer topper, OEM roof rack and sliders/foot rail. I run mobile 1 full syn.
Now fuel: I started running reg 87 I'd average 21/22. For awhile I went to 91 ethanol free and averaged about 22/23. I switched back to 87 ethanol free so right now I'm at 21/23.
The best I've ever had was 24/24.5 but I was really easy on her and popped into neutral a lot when I roll through small towns or going down hill.

I'm not saying that is not possible but... I have to agree 23 seems a little high, considering you're going 75mph. Especially with the gas and traffic we have in SoCal.

Well it is possible coz it did happen. I drove it to sequoia. Cruising 70-75mph. This is flat, no traffic no incline. Now if your trying to say, traffic and road condition that's a different story.

I thought you said it wasn't a one time set up thing? So you don't average 23,you just got it once in ideal conditions. Lol people on this site crack me up

I'd be happy with 19 mpg highway as my 2002 3.4/MT got 18 or 19 highway.

Final drive gear in the manual transmission needed to be taller I think. At 75 mph I was revving at about 2850 rpm or so. So I never went much faster than 75 unless I wanted to pass...and if I wanted to pass, it usually had to be while I was going downhill lol.

Are you talking about your gen 2 or an old gen 1? I am talking about my old gen 1 that I recently traded in. It was a manual transmission which has a different top gear than the auto. It was bone stock.
