my 2011 stock.. stock tires.. 54k miles. averaging right at about 20 back and forth to work and such. measured a little over 19 sometimes, measured around 21 sometimes. Depends on how much road rage I get tryin to get around all the idiots who don't know how the road works. roughly 16 miles one way. mixed driving.. 1 mile down country road at about 15-30, 5 stoplights. 5 miles about 35-45. highway about 10 miles at 65-75. Getting ready to purchase new wheels and tires.. Lookin at fn fx pros with a 265/70 17 a/t tire. Current size is 265/65. Not lookin forward to the drop in mpg everyone seems to have.

I have a stock 4.0 I drive to work approx. 18 miles each way every day. Freeway with 60 mph speed limit. I use cruise as much as possible getting 20-21 mpg. Taking your heavy foot out of the equation helps. Least it helps me.

I can vouch for this. I use the Torque Pro app, and I average 21.6mpg. I can get 23 if I follow a trucker at 65mph, but ya, my commute is 22 miles, all highway.

Consumer Report did a test and showed that they got fewer mpg (not by much, but noticeable). Mythbusters also did a test as well. I would think that a soft top would get a lower mpg (due to the drag from the soft material), but a hard top would get better mpg (smoother surface, less drag, kinda like a camper shell). I don't have either cover, but it's just a thought.

Covers can increase mpg slighty, not much but a little. Thats why toyota and chevy are offering tonneau covers from the factory now, to get better mpgs.

With 285/70R17 tires on a 2011 DCLB 4x4 I get about 19 summer and 17 winter (not sure why). I commute 70 miles a day and 50 of them are at about 68MPH.

In my 2014, I've been averaging about 22 to 23. Worst I got was 19, best was 23.xx (don't remember specifically). Most of that is mixed driving with quite a bit of four wheeling - ( mosquito pass, cottonwood pass, Weston pass, Boreas pass, tincup pass) plus the normal highway passes between. I don't have my foot into it at all, usually keep it at or below 2k rpms, etc. When ever possible, I fill up with 88 octane non-etoh gas. Other fillups are mid grade.
I think it is all in how you drive and the non-etoh gas.
When I get a chance, I post specifics from my mileage book I keep in the truck. I've put about 2500 miles on the truck since I got it in August.

This is an example of how to NOT report MPG. You can't drive 90 miles and get any sort of accuracy. Are you looking at the trip computer, which is nonsensical, or are you doing it the RIGHT way and filling up, driving, and filling up again. Divide distance traveled by fuel required for second fill-up. And THAT is not exactly the right way. There will be error introduced at the second fill-up. You need to fill up at the SAME pump, parked in the SAME position, and stop at the first click. If you do this over 4-5 tanks of gas and take the TOTAL distance and total fuel added over those fill-ups, you will begin to get close to the truth.

    Anything else is random noise.
