Yes, it's a .40 -- and truly -- not to be difficult but won't be discussing back-ups...I really do like the .40 but I did say in another thread that I carry a Kimber Stainless Ultra TLE .45 as my main off duty gun -- and a S&W 642 (2" .38 with +P+) on an ankle when the weather is too warm (not too often in Seattle) for belt carry...for an all around caliber and if I had my choice, I would carry a .45 but I am not given that choice...

No, I'm in Sarasota. I like the Sig, nothing against the Glock, but the Sig feels better in MY hand.

My first tour as a Boarding Officer (BosDet-14) we were issued the good old (and I mean old) government 45 which we carried with a full magazine & an empty chamber. Plus we were issued the Remington 870 shotgun. Years later we used the Beretta 92S. The Guard has invested in more modern weapons since then.

    Glock 17 9mm issued. Either a Glock 27 .40 or a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm for off-duty, depending on my mood.

Do you prefer just carrying something different when off duty, or do you have a preference towards the glock 27 or smith and wesson

    I prefer a Zoll M-series. :) I figure 200 bi-phasic joules ought to stop anyone.

I really don't have a preference for either, both have their positives and negatives. I'll always be a huge Glock fan, but the S&W M&P line is right up there with them, IMO.

When I started with the NYPD in 1991 it was a Ruger SP100 I think then a few years later we finally transitioned to the Glock 19 for the rest of my career. I still have the Glock, I just cant let go of it. I also always carried a second gun a S & W model 640 centennial.

Holy crap! Do you get to choose your own weapon or are they dept. issued?
