Plain view from a legal standpoint is a grey area ...at best.

Is that holster openly discernible to the ordinary observation of a reasonable person. No its not. Unless somebody sticks their head inside the window and looks around his leg, and if they were to do that it wouldn't be considered reasonable.

But with that being said, the OP is definitely taking a risk, a risk I wouldn't take. There are much better ways to store a handgun in a vehicle.

I kinda like your idea. What holster is that and is there a belt at the bottom as well? If no, does it bounce around or anything?
I too would not leave in truck, but sure would be nice to have easier access while buckled in.

my favorite two interior mods to my taco access cab are 1) Pioneer DEH-X8900bt, and 2) techdeck + ram mount x-grip for my Pixel phone.. everything else is bone stock. TRD floor mats. I took off the TRD seat covers it came with as the neoprene is too sweaty if I'm just wearing a thin T-shirt, and the seats underneath were totally brand new, so I figured *I* want to enjoy the new seats.

The Blackhawk Serpa holster. It has a little clip on the inside that is made to snag the inside of your pants so it doesn’t bounce out if running that snags a piece of the plastic dash perfectly so the holster doesn’t move if you have to draw the weapon. I carry a beretta 92f. Can’t speak for other variations of the serpa but it works great, don’t see why it would be different

They don't seem to have one to fit any of my carries. Wanted one for the Beretta px4 sub-comp. Closest they have is one for a compact. The search continues. One can't have enough holsters.

Looks like it’s time to buy a new gun for a holster.

    Thanks!

It is actually a HAM (yaesu 7900) but no reason you couldn't put a CB right there if it had a remote faceplate.

Totally agree. Relatively cheap, easy and far better sound and functionality. I got a JVC with Android Auto (and Apple Carplay) and it's tits.

My thoughts also to have easy access to my Sig P938 when in my Truck, I tried different locations and wasn't happy with those from my knees hitting them …
(As for me) my best area was in the left cup holder with the P938 holster clipped to the cup holder, my concern was will it stay in place on hard hits … couple of months ago I was rear ended, he hit me about 40 mph and after checking the damage on truck and other car which was totaled I notice my pistol was still in the cup holder and was surprised it stayed in place and happy lol …

My favorite is wiring my dome lights to a push button on the dash, in combination with the map / dome light mod. So I don't have to fumble for the light switch on the dome light.. just press my button on the center console.
