I recently got a new Tacoma and just did some suspension and tire work on it and lost on average 4 mpg. I don’t have any other mods done yet but was shocked to see the difference.

Thought it might be a good idea for the fuel conscious folks on here to see and share their current and previous setups and the mileage they’re getting to help others understand what they’re getting into.

I think people get off on telling people that there are already other threads on whatever topic. I think it's a superiority complex.

Anyway, on to the topic at hand. I recently did an ICON Stage 2 lift with 32" BGF KO2s and I noticed my MPG on the highway is down to about 15MPG. So definitely a drop. I only have 14800 miles on my 2020. So yeah....

Wow, a lot better than me. 2021 TRDOR DCSB 6MT with 5,000 miles. I average 18.5 - 19.5 driving similarly. Completely stock.

I really dislike MPG threads. There are so many variables that go into MPG. Temperature, wind speed, wind direction, drafting behind a large truck, elevation, fuel type/quality, tire size, equipment bolted to truck, cruise control vs manually driving, etc... I've found all those things to affect my MPG. Also, a single drive or tank of gas does not give an accurate MPG number. The only thing I think that's accurate is if you track your fill ups through Fuelly over a long period of time. Share you Fuelly numbers and then you've got my attention. Mine is currently 16.6 mpg, with 315/75r16 tires and a bunch of shit bolted to my truck.

At 5000 miles you aren't really fully broken in, the computer also learns as it goes is my understanding. I'm also pretty light with the boot!

About 21.5 over the life of my stock truck so far (I don't include any towing data) and a little better since I added the air dam. I can get upwards of 26-27 MPG on flat roads/neutral winds. Here is a 450 mile trip from northern MN to southern WI where the wind vector was not favorable. On a flat wind-free section of the trip I averaged 26.8 MPG over 150 miles. These trucks CAN get decent MPG if you have a mind to do it.Screen Shot 2021-05-26 at 11.22.27 AM.jpg

And mine has been tracked exactly that way through fuelly since my very first fillup through 5,520 miles, giving me 18.6 avg with a best of 21.2. Bone stock.

It's very simple. You lose 20-30% efficiency, or 2-6 mpg depending on the weight and drag added.

The graph I posted is my Fuelly numbers since I bought the Tacoma overlaid with Weather Underground's temperature data. :)

Mine runs off of a flux capacitor, so MPG is not applicable.

I find this to be totally in line with my experience....as other have said MPG has so many factors. However these numbers are spot on for my stock truck - not including towing and off road (with Micheline Defender M/S stock size tires).

I have 108K miles on my 2019 (bought new in Jan '19)...so I have plenty of time in my truck to check my mileage :).

Stock wheels and tires on stock tune ...18.5 mpg. Tuned on KDMax and still stock wheels and tires and jumped to 20.5-22 depending on hwy/city mix. And I not light on the throttle... neither is my wife when she drives. She owns all the fast accelerations on the connected app...
