Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
My stock 2021 TRD OR AC A/T with a Leer 180 cap and 6K on the odometer has been running around 18.3-18.7 MPG, mostly local miles < 60 MPH.
I have learned that the onboard calculation of MPG is off by about 0.3 MPG (reads lower than actual).
Waiting to see what another 10K miles shows.
My stock 2006 TRD OR AC M/T with the same style Leer cap and lightweight snowplow subframe didn't max out until about 50-60K miles. I'm sure some of the improvement can be attributed to my improved driving habits as well as the removal of the rack on the cap.

    Per my fuelly 18.4.

Premium SFOB tune, Borla catback, poor mans TRD intake and 265/70/17 C load KO2s.

Mostly city driving. I’m happy with the gas mileage.

I can only get that if going no more than 85-90 on a flat road with no wind. Manuals do run a bit higher rpms due to lower gear ratio in the rear end.

Usually highway is about 10-12 for me.

My two cents... The 3.5 is fairly small for the size and weight of the vehicle. Change the stock setup with larger tires/lift/add weight and it takes a lot more skinny pedal to get it up to and maintain speed = large loss of m.p.g. Personal driving habits also, show huge swings in miles per gallon. Drove many of Chevrolet 350's in half and three quarter ton trucks, Caprice's, Nova's... all were around 10-12 m.p.g. = an engine big enough to easily compensate for the difference in size and weight of vehicle. I have 8k miles on my 19 sport and mileage has slowly increased to 23+m.p.g. and that is all 12 mile trips to work on hilly secondary roads at 45 m.p.h. I drove a rare 30 miles the other day and got 27...

I’ve got an ‘04 prerunner 2” lift stock tire size and I’m averaging 250-300 miles a tank when I fill up at 16-18 gallons a fill

Last tank with adding 11% for 285/75/17, I got 13.3mpg with a manual calculation. 222mi/16.65g.

Indicated on odometer was 200mi and 12.5mpg for the tank.

Almost all 3 miles trips with 15+ red lights/stop signs.

The tank lasted me 33 days.

This was last weekend on a road trip. I was getting awesome gas mileage and thought I might actually get 500 miles out of a tank.

    upload_2021-5-27_7-17-52.jpg

After this stop, I ran into a 40 mph headwind. Got 107 more miles before I had to fill up. So much for 500 miles :(

500 is hard. I could have gotten 500 a few times, but I didn’t care enough to run the tank that close to dry.

did you notice any change in mpg after putting the leer 180 on? I’m considering buying one but am curious if the mid height will effect aerodynamics/mpgs

Caps were on almost from day one on both Tacos. I discount any MPG calcs done in the first 5K miles anyway.
I DID notice that the removal of the rack on the '06's cap did result in a 1-2 MPG boost.

1.5” suspension lift, sliders, OEM tonneau, TRD skid, and about 70# gear in the bed.

Daily 24 mile commute in stop and go traffic from 0-50 mph. Average 20.5 mpg.

When tires are due to replace, going with 265/75/16 Cooper Discoverer 4s for another 1/2” lift at only 6 pounds added per tire over OEM Goodyears. Hope it won’t affect mpg too much. Nothing else has so far.
