Nikon and Leupold is way way overkill on a .22. I have a redfield and works great crystal clear and tons of eye relief and its at a great price point.

My Pentel mechanical pencils are "made in japan" same as they've always been.

Actually, I think I bought one pack that was stamped "made in china" but the ones after that were marked Japan again.

I favor Goodyears and BF Goodrich for this reason, though I use a lot of Michelin rubber on my cars as well.

Bottom line - don't just wave the flag - take "Pride of Ownership" with you to work, bust your butt, and make the best damn stuff you can. And with that thought, I'm logging off and getting back to work. :)

I studied this theory in college, but the driving force behind China as a manufacturing powerhouse is due mostly to their extreme excess capacity perplexed by government and corporate saving and re-investment. Chinese Corporate savings rate is almost 70%, and most of that goes into increasing capacity at a rate that is self-damaging - over-capacity = over supply which force prices and profit down for manufacturers.

There are many countries we can look at and say, "their costs are way lower than China's now, why arent they the "='New China'?" Examples include Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Philippines. However, none of them have been able to fill those shoes. Why?

It's simple, China has 1.6+ billion people and an overabundance of infrastructure to produce what the entire world wants.

America isnt really China's largest customer anymore. There is Europe, the Mid-East, South America.

Sure you can buy American and still pay almost the same price, but how much supply is out there? Will American Union workers really work everyday of their life from morning to Midnight to cater to the World's demand?

That's really the core of the issue. You can be an industrial powerhouse when little annoyances like labor supply, human rights, and OSHA aren't in the equation...;)

Makes for ample production of wal-mart inventory.

My Subaru is assembled in Japan. Interesting enough, most of the little bits and pieces in the car are made in Japan, too, down to the plastic cap covering the rear liftgate latch mechanism.

Thats no reason to not buy American. And we NEED industry in this country and we are losing more and more every day. If we dont support the industry that is left it will dry up and what will America have then?

Corporate Greed is the #1 reason why jobs are outsourced to China and other countries. Corrupt unions also have a huge part in forcing jobs overseas.
