I've taught two people to drive stick on my truck....still the original clutch. I wouldn't be surprised if yours last as long as well..

you haven’t met my son… lol

Update: I found it again at the actual dealership that has it. The sales manager is living in a dream world. He wouldn’t go below $11k even when shown my mechanic’s $3500 repair estimate for all the suspension, 2 tires, front stabilizers, rear main seal, steering gear, etc.
I offered him $5200. He said he’s sell it to auction before he sold it to me at that price. The funniest part is I know for a fact this brand is currently sending nothing to auction. I called him out and he walked away.

Now I’m looking at a 2010 with 77k miles, V6 listed at $20,000. I may start a new thread to update on this adventure.

You can get a decent "long term rental" in a lot of places for $5000 and maybe a little professional wrenching on neglected maintenance items. It's certainly not the good old days, but if you're just looking for a beater with decent crash safety ratings, you can find plenty (in most places) on Craigslist still. It might not be a sweet pickup, but for a kid, wheels are wheels.
