I am wondering what kind of attachment/thing is at the bottom front of my Tacoma?
I refer to the square thing. It was on the car when I bought it used.
    Here is a photo:

I'm guessing it was flat-towed behind an RV.

Looks like you’ve got some extra wires running on the passenger side too (yellow and green)

Looks like a mounting point for a plow, and maybe one of those tiny salters that go on the hitch. Is the truck from florida or you just bought it there

Well, there ya go. Now ya know. Probably had a snow bird decide to upgrade and forgot to take the brackets when they traded.

A friend of mine has a Jeep with those exact same tow bar brackets. She didn't have a recovery hook, so I made a stinger that fit it for a shackle. The standard stingers are 1 1/2" and 2". That tow bar bracket is 1 3/4" with a 5/8" pin. I wouldn't do any full on balls to the wall snatch strap yanks with it, but a basic pull should be plenty strong enough.

I think this mystery was solved, but some surf racks use connections like this in the font, instead of using a standard single 2in hitch receiver like mine:

I've been looking for one on CL the past few months and they ALL have double male ends that would fit the OPs truck if the spacing was right.

I immediately knew it was a fishing rod holder when I saw the brackets.
People saying it's to mount a plow, but the hitch is barely big enough to fit my finger in LOL
