I've always used the shower, that's what its there for. I just do a wipe down after use to keep it clean/dry.
That's too much trailer for a Tacoma IMO.

2014 Rockwood Freedom 2280 with cassette toilet and shower. My truck is regeared for the bigger tires and pulls it very well. I'm going to be adding air bags to help with the sag. We are loving the camper. It is our first season with the pop up.20151002_114809.jpg 20150710_160221.jpg 20150710_175414.jpg 20150710_175436.jpg

Figured I'd come back and show what I ended up buying. It's a 2016 Layton 215RB. 22' 4100lbs dry and 6200GVW. It pulled awesome in the Texas hill country this past week. Perfect t set up for our small family with one slide. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1445027551.062461.jpg

Brilliant! I have been looking for a hard side camper for awhile, and every RV dealer I see tells me to stay as far below the Max/80% as you can. I see guys towing some large and heave trailers, and I wonder if I am being way to cautious. I would like to see my self towing something over "Rabbit Ears Pass" and dry camping at 10000'. So I probably don't appreciate what the Tacoma can do at 500' ASL and flat.

I searching for a tandem axle under 3800 lbs dry. Probably go for single, then a flip for the clearance and add a fresh water tank for the 1 week comfort get away.

You guys towing at 6000 lbs I salute you.

I'm still under 6000 lbs and really happy with the way it pulled. I truly steep grade would be a hard pull. I'm still looking into an eventual URD SC. Would make all the difference in the world. I would also love to somehow program shift points.

Thanks, Getting to that campground was a trial run up a long hill with at least 8% grade. Water tank full and gear probably put me over 3500 lbs.
Tacoma pulled it no problem. Campers back East can push the limit but I start out at elevations never encountered there.

Any more pics of the trailer? Sounds like a perfect setup for what I'm looking for. Nothing fancy, just the basics to do some light camping.

How do you like the new truck so far? opted for a 2015 for pulling a camper because I don't like first year models being that I could not do anything if it didn't work for me. Retired so money has to be spent carefully.

I've only had it for a week, but so far I love it. I opted for the 2016 since it gets slightly better gas mileage and had a slightly higher tow capacity, in addition to the nicer ride inside.

recently got an '08 DCSB, made the required mods for safe towing ( brake control, scan gauge for trans temp monitoring, air bags for load handling )

    Camper is a 2012 Flagstaff 625D w/slideout dinette cassette toilet, king/queen bunks, it's heavy ( 3480lbs as sitting here ) .

That looks like a nice trailer. I'm not too familiar with Jayco though. Weight wise and length the tacoma will handle it fine. when I bought my trailer I made sure the only ones I looked at had a dual axle. Just a thought

The local camper dealer in town carries them which is where I came across the name, the price is pretty dang low compared to winnebago and other which could be a bad thing in the long run. More research will definitely be required before purchasing

That is the other one I was looking at when I bought mine. Floor plan of the Avenger worked for us.
More appropriate size for the Tacoma to pull.

I like the 18 & 19' jaycos. They have a Baja option that has the axle flip done already and has all terrain tires. I think it is a very good match for a Taco.
