Interesting. I think I’ll go with the overload springs to level the truck and trailer and se how that works.

I will definitely check the axel weight rating!

Does anyone know if the Hellwig model #979 will definitely fit the PreRunner? Two different people at one online retailer gave me mixed answers. One said it was only for 4x4 Tacoma’s and another said that the model #980, a variation of the 979, would fit the PreRunner. The 980 seems to be for trucks that have had the rear springs recalled. I stopped by my local Toyota dealer and asked them and they said my truck’s springs were Not subjected to the recall. They were not familiar with those overloads but thought they would probably work. I was hoping for a definite answer before purchasing.

So would the 979 work for the PreRunner TRD?

    Thanks!!

The only difference is the PreRunner doesn’t have a transfer case or front diff.
Whole suspension on my ‘08 SR5 is a take off from a ‘14 TRD, went from the 3 leaf (2 main and an over load ) to the 4 leaf (3main and an over load) 4 leaf packs would be the recall pack if I had taken mine in ( I had just swapped when I got the notice)

The recall pack is just a bit thicker is all, look at yours and see if you’re 3 or 4 leaf and go from there.

I went with them bc of the quality and they us a composite backing called Azdel, not a wood backer that will sell and rot out and cause delamination.

One reason I too went with Coachmen is because of the Azdel. Among others.

Just back from picking up the new rPod 180. We got one night at Morro Bay Dunes, private campground, to try out the new trailer.
What an improvement over the old dilapidated Coleman tent trailer! So nice to have a 3-way fridge, furnace, AC, a hot water heater, and a nice bathroom. Now debating whether a WDH would be better than just overloads. I measured the air gap on the rear tires. With the trailer off I have a six-inch air gap and once I hitch up it drops one inch to a five-inch gap. The truck and trailer bounced a bit on the highway, especially going over bridges, but it wasn't bad. The techs that installed the Reese digital brake controller set it up perfectly so the brakes feel really neutral. Lots of people complimented the truck and trailer. Morro Rock was in the background on this photo but it was completely obscured by fog. Can't wait to take it out again.tacoma+rPod.jpg

Thanks. LOVING the rPod. This is my first travel trailer. I've had three truck campers, (a seven-foot Sierra slide in on a '73 Datsun, a '67 Alaskan 8ft Standard on a '91 F-150, and a 10ft Alaskan cabover on an '89 F-350 4x4 Crew Cab.) Also had a 67 VW camper bus and lastly the '89 Coleman tent trailer that I've had for 15 years. This camper is the BEST of them all.

A Liner scout lite. I added a microwave and a refrigerator. Pulls easy and does just what I need it to do.

Nice! I have the 190, picked up back in March and have had a few trips both on shore power and boon docking. I have a WDH with sway control built in. Always a mix of reviews on whether it's needed or not, but I've found that in cross winds and head winds plus uneven pavement the truck and trailer handle pretty great. The WDH has the added effect of reducing the bounce as you travel along the road. The dealer set up the WDH but I think I'm going to get them to adjust it and have the brackets go up one notch (1") to improve the levelling. Loving the rig for all the same reasons you pointed out.

Looks awesome! I liked the floor plan of the 190 but my dealer didn't have any in stock so we went with the 180 because my wife liked the big rear dry bath. I'm going to try pulling it without a WDH, mostly because my wife doesn't want me to spend the $$$ on one. Maybe I'll first try the overload springs but I know they won't do anything about sway.

We just got reservations today for the big 2018 rPod Meetup at Cannon Beach on the northern Oregon coast in August!

They are cool. I've always liked seeing them on the road, especially when paired with a Tacoma! Can't believe I actually have one.

There were only a few spaces left as of this morning. The meet up is August 23rd through 26th at Cannon Beach RV Park.
You have to reserve a space first and then email Steve through the rPod Forums page. The link is under the camping / meetups section.

They have 50 spaces reserved for the rPod club. You have to let the park know you're attending the meet up. Email your site number and your name and home city, state to Steve and he will send you the info.

Here's our set up, 13' Boler. Originally I towed it with my mkiv TDI Jetta, but with the truck we've upped our distance possibilities quite a bit. Just finished an entire gut and reno on the interior of it as well. FB_IMG_1528267969480.jpg
