That’s why I ended up with a Coleman. I loved the floor plan and it was cheaper than a lot of other one. You see it in the build quality a little bit to be honest. For our first camper I think it will be perfect.

The Coleman 1605FB was sold when we went to look today.

We did look at a Starcraft Satellite 17RB and fell in love. Currently waiting on a call back to see if they can make the deal we want tomorrow.

Bummer about the sold Coleman but the Starcraft looks nice. Looks like an rPod clone. Is it like the 180 with the rear dry bath?

Yes, same layout as the 180. I’d say they are basically clones of each other.

I just installed a shelf in the pantry yesterday. I got a nice piece of pine from Lowes and used a combination of L brackets and 1x2s to hold it in place. I glued the 1x2s to the rear and side walls of the inside of the cabinet so they act as little pilasters, and cut the 1x10 pine board down to 3 feet and used the end piece to make a 90 degree end support. I used two L brackets on the inside of the cabinet face frame but had to substitute smaller screws so they didn't penetrate the exterior of the wood. I left one of the cupboards open (the one closest to the exterior door), and the other two cupboard have the shelf, which effectively doubles the interior space. I'm also building a little rack over the microwave / fridge out of 1x2s to hold spices, medication bottles, and hopefully some small paperbacks.IMG_0602.jpg IMG_0603.jpg IMG_0602.jpg IMG_0603.jpg IMG_0604.jpg IMG_0603.jpg IMG_0602.jpg

    Absolutely!

Same coupling size for black and grey drain pretty much standard in the industry. Fresh water tank is in the front, well forward of the wheels. And the bathroom is for 3:00 am, it’s pouring rain and you gotta go! Wet baths are smaller giving you more floor space. When we camp we like to cook, always hated not having enough counter space!

Why did the smoke alarm go off?

Looks like our Starcraft from years ago. I moved the axle to below the leaf springs and put larger wheel/tires on it. Pulled much easier and flat!

Apparently when it was installed somebody ran a screw through one of the wires and it was shorting. It had been stored with no battery in it so nobody noticed until I got it and it had time to drain the battery

I was mistaken then on the hose size but they are in different places so you have to move the hose from one tank to the other.
Someone told me that the rear kitchen models had the fresh water tank in the back, but I could be mistaken on that too.

We don't cook elaborate meals and liked the larger bathroom. I guess that's why they make several different floor plans.
I was surprised with the slide out open how much floor space there was in such a small trailer.

Someone on this thread mentioned adding a Harbor Freight tongue box. I just got the new Harbor Freight flyer in the mail today and the 2.5 cubic foot tongue box is now on sale for $115. Will this fit on the tongue of a new rPod 180 without modification? How does it mount? The little L girders on the tongue that the battery box sits on are pretty close together. Would it fit where the battery box goes? I really don't want to drill into my trailer but it seems like it might be a necessity. I like the idea of securely locking my group 27 marine battery.

Maybe if you gave us the measurements somebody with a RP180 could go check. And I would think mounting would either be bolts or welds.

Looks like the reviews on the Harbor Freight box isn’t good. Thin steel and not a secure lock.
Today I drilled some holes into my plastic battery box and installed some eye bolts; two in the top lid and two on the front of the box.
I was able to lock it down to the tongue with a thin cable and a couple of locks. I know it won’t make it completely secure but hopefully it would slow a thief down a bit. All I’m hoping for is a bit of security while on the road.

Does anyone have experience towing a Rockwood Mini-Lite 2304KS? I have a 3rd Gen Taco double cab V6 with the tow package. Looking to purchase the RV. It has a dry weight of 4550.....any thoughts?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
That's getting a little heavy, but it also depends on what you do. Ours is around 4K dry, and about 5k wet. We don't carry water and sewage. Fill nd dump where we camp. IMO, I would not want to pull anything heavier than ours with my Taco. But if you cross your T's and dot your I's, you can still be safe and legal.

Well I added a 3 inch lift to my Casita and my towing MPG is pretty awful haha. It's not that big of a deal since I rarely tow my caper more than 100 miles from my home but currently getting about 12 mpg. Currently my Tacoma is not set up for optimal fuel efficiency, it was BFG All Terrain tires, topper and racks all over the roof. I remember getting about 15 mpg while towing with my gen 1 3.4 but that was before I had my lift on my trailer and obviously way less power. At any rate, it has plenty of power while towing so I am fine with that. Truck is paid off with only 50k mi on the clock so paying a little more for gas is better than getting a new truck with 2 mpg better + $400/mo payment.
If anyone is curious about my camper, here is a tour of it on my YouTube channel.

It's generally not a good idea to tow more than 70% of your towing capacity. My new rPod has a GVWR of just under 4,000 lbs and I can definitely feel it on the hills. (You also have to think about your brakes.) I wouldn't want to pull a whole lot more weight. If you're only going on flat ground it might be a little better, but you might want to keep your holding tanks as empty as you can. Join a trailer forum and ask around for advice.

Very cool. Watched your uTube video. How much does it weigh? (Sorry if you've mentioned it and I didn't see it.)

The numbers would probably work. 4550# dry is well over 5000# closer to 5500# loaded. You'll definitely feel it back there and so will your truck. I think you're going to want a full size.

I think the brochure says 2500 or 2700 lbs dry. Guess as is it is around 3300 lbs or so. Tows really nice but less so now that I put a lift on it. The lift is nice though when I want to camp on more primitive roads.
