Not absolutely the case there is an exclusion if it's your primary residence

I have the V-6 version. TRD Sport.. so maybe I'm mistaken then. It has the tow setup. I'd add a brake controller if I got a trailer.

if I bought an older trailer, I'd insulate with foam. I knew some folks in fairbanks who had small cabins and did fine. others who even had trailers for 3 seasons. fortunate for me, I like the cold.

Our old camper it would reach 70F inside, single digits outside and our shoes froze to the floor overnight. Fully insulated does not mean high R value you’ll still spend a small fortune to heat.

With towing package you’re rated for 6500#. I wouldn’t go much over 4000#.

Yea, I'm looking at blogs and stuff online. I'm not so concerned about heat as 90% of the time it would only be me and the dog. (we had the heater off till mid winter when it finally got -0). I am looking at how to insulate water lines and all. If I did this, I'd get a membership at the YMCA or something too for hot showers to mitigate having to use all the hot water in the trailer.

Glad the rating is over 3500- was looking at a trailer that just hits the 4500 mark fully loaded (water, propane, etc). I think with all my crap I'd want to keep I could keep it below 5k. I'd just be towing it from Ohio to Tennessee then staging it.

Again, this is just a thought about the next few years. I want to downsize and be more mobile for my kids- I moved 16 times in 12 years before they were born, but that was the army. I'd like to be able to move quickly if I need to and don't need much space I'm learning living alone in a big house.

That's the main reason we bought the teardrop. Got tired of wanting last minute camping trips and having to spend an hour to pack. Now its just grab some food and clothes and hook up and go

Speaking of being able ot just get up and go....gf and I decided Saturday at like 2pm to go camping. Quick trip to the store for food , hooked up the trailer and we were off. Granted only went to a place ~1 hour away. Went with the intention of stopping at a Cider place that does live music. Stopped there and left pretty quick as the music wasn't our cup o tea.

Will say the awning really makes it feel more "defined" space wise. And we really need to get a small table. The "counter space" just sucks for trying to do much of anything lol. Espcially when you cant even really make coffee/hot chocolate and cook breakfast at the same time.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

That's a really cool setup, a bit pricey they are though. Aren't you worried about the ac unit falling out while you're driving?

Nope they have that thing secured inside and out. When you drive down the road it never even moves. We got really lucky last year when we were looking and found a brand new left over 2016 at 2/3 the price of a '17. Still expensive for us but with our kids being grown and having just paid off the house we decided to jump on it.I think I've invested 1/2 the price of the camper again in it in modifications to get it to where we can leave the campgrounds and boondock. It's a fun little camper and pretty comfortable for just the 2 of us and our little dog.

The tongue area is one place I hate on our trailer. So much room but its all sort of worthless space. The "box" is ok but cant really fit much in there. Our next plan is to probably get rid of the one that came with the trailer and build one more like yours....wont house the fridge but we want room to store solar panels, a table, ect

I like this very nice, yours and @Casper66 We prefer small as we have an RPOD which is just enough for us. By us I mean 3 of us and two dogs. We are fairly fast at getting out the door. Were constantly going camping. When I retire in the 10 years we may go class A full time. edit on name for @Casper66

We looked at the Rpods. Really nice campers. We went through a bit of a figuring out what we wanted sort of deal with the camper. In the end decided we wanted something pretty much anything can tow, don't really want to deal with toilets/showers, and wanted ease of use. I'm rebuilding a FJ40 and our plan is to go on a long road trip. So we wanted something we could tow with it which really means as light and small as possible. Then we just wanted to not have to deal with tanks or anything. The only "tank" on the T@G is the water storage tank. And the our last thing was simple. Not a ton of electronics or anything to really fail or have to worry about.

Course in 5-10 years our needs will change and we will probably move on to something else. Its not bad with us two plus our dog. But adding a kiddo could get a bit interesting haha
