Just picked this up, it's a Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS.

The Taco towed it well. I got about 13mpg on the 3 hour ride home after buying it. I went about 65 on the highway, and had about an hour of normal backroads at the speed limit.

The truck has Dakar leaf springs in the rear and sumosprings. I'm using no weight distribution or sway control - there's no need for a trailer this small, especially with the length of the DCLB and the suspension upgrades. It towed straight and stable.

I'm using a Tekonsha P3 brake controller (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P17NXQ) with the plug and play adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0781KTCPT) - it took less than 15 minutes to install and works great. The calibration instructions for the P3 aren't helpful, so I experimented and settled on the boost on the 2 setting (shows a small tandem trailer on the screen) with a strength of 13.5.

Every time I see your camper on this site, it makes me want to build one. I thought you had bought some new wheels for the camper matching the truck?

I did. They’re just first gen tundra wheels but I got a set and cleaned them up and painted them white. I had to use a 5 lug to 6 lug adapter which is a 2 piece unit and I just couldn’t trust it. I removed the adapters and put stock wheels back on for now. The real fix will be Timbren axels with 6 lug hubs but it’ll work like this for now until I can afford to do the swap. Hell I may find this works fine I just can’t use the Toyota wheels

Why not just replace the existing hubs with 6-lug hubs?

They are great but crazy expensive. Looked at ~20 foot trailers and ended up with an Apex Nano 208BHS for around $19k. A similar sized Airstream was $60-70k! And the floorplans weren't really what I was looking for anyway, but no way I could justify 3x the cost or more! Is there some secret to getting them at a reasonable price or just have to be willing to buy into the lifestyle?

Buy used and let the original buyer take the initial depreciation. Prior to the Airstream we have now we had a 2006 22ft for 4 years and we sold if for more than we bought it for. Airstreams hold their value extremely well once the initial depreciation is taken. I will agree that they are not for everyone and other travel trailers have more spacious floorplans and slide outs. However, the 22FB Sport model we have now is lightweight (3600lbs dry / 4500lbs GVWR) with a low hitch weight of 393lbs and it is narrower than most at only 7ft makes very easy to tow it fits nicely behind the Tacoma and the air slips around it well. It is narrow enough that we do not need tow mirrors. Again, not for everyone but for my wife, dog and myself it works great.

I contacted Dexter and asked that very question. They don't make them for that axel.

What kind of axle is on it now? A torsion one? I've been eyeing the timbren for our trailer.

We have a Dexter torsion axle right now. It's good on road but on our trip to dead horse and Inuvik we noticed it would jolt and bounce a decent amount

Yes, a Dexter torsion axle. I'm just going to wait and save for the Timbren set up you can get the axleless axles with a 4" lift and I can get the 6 lug hubs

I'll be curious to see how you like the change! We don't mind the torsion on the road. Even on forest service it isn't bad. But man it still bounces and jolts around. We had to move our Yakima roof rack off the trail and to the truck cause it was bouncing so much

I have noticed it bounces a little off road but honestly it hasn't been bad. I took the roof basket off when we installed the dual solar panels so nothing mounted to the Thule bars at least for now. I need to climb up under it and box the frame in some places now any way
