I use the RAS. I'm a fan. I like that they are adjustable but you don't have to adjust them for every load. Sometimes I jack it up all the way and will forget to relax it back down for a few months. Truck does ride a hair stiff on max, it's empty ride is hardly noticable on min. It completely eliminates porpoising and bottoming out when towing.

Here's empty, with it on the heavier setting. (tensioned all the way up it will tend to stink-bug by about an inch. Lower settings aren't nearly as dramatic):

    20210811_212358.jpg

Here's how it rides at max payload. (Hitch+cargo probably had it at 75 pounds over payload on this trip:anonymous:)20200825_121453.jpg

75lbs over payload?? I thought those pop ups are generally pretty light? I like your setup btw...

    Thanks. :hattip:

Last year before I upgraded to LiFePO, I was running dual group 24 batteries plus propane and a uni-jack mounted to the tongue; it made the trailer just a hair heavy on the front. :D Then add a week's worth of groceries, ice, beer, and luggage in the bed.

Everything was well within tow capacity and under combined gross rating, but more than likely I violated the truck payload capacity here.

Oh i see what ya mean. That can be easy to do in the truck bed once you add all your camping goodies and a generator.

Got a 2015 Rpod 178 and we are loving it! Tekonsha Brake controller comes tomorrow and the Rpod also came with the Equalizer E2 WDH. Close to 3000 lbs. I am adding a second battery and LP tank also since we almost exclusively dry camp. We love Harvest Host spots.

Nice wagon! Are your batteries tongue mounted on that one? If so I would consider the extra expense of going lithium. It lightened my hitch by a net 65 pounds for an equivalent 120 Ah capacity (90 pounds of lead acid vs 25 of LiFe).

You'd be surprised at what a difference that small amount of weight made.

I've looked at several outfits in this length / weight class in recent times. How do the the fridges work out - when they only have the electric power option? Past campers I've owned had the propane operated fridges and they worked out great for remote sites - back country. Always kept the level situation in mind and had no troubles with the gas - but how much battery power would the full electric need?

Personally I only operate mine in propane mode. If its a 3-way fridge or anything but a portable "ice chest" style, the only time to run it on battery is when you are actively towing (and your battery is wired to replenish through the 7-pin). Anything that looks like a traditional fridge from the front will kill your power in under 8 hours in my experience.

The portable chests are a lot more efficient. Most owners claim to get a full weekend out of those and a small 50 Ah power bank. I would feel nervous hooking them up to the house battery though, unless the only other thing you are drawing from are a couple of lights.

I put twin 24 series batteries on the tongue. Not concerned too much about weight since we only do two night excursions and take next to nothing when we go. We stay exclusively at Harvest Hosts and the money we save on campground sites we spend at the Harvest Host location or locally at restaurants and shops. I am currently getting 150-160 Ah and have a Renogy 100 watt suitcase to keep them topped up. Twin propane tanks are overkill but WTH.

Adjusted my WD hitch to the bottom hole . The new camper is longer than the last one and the stabilizers and waste outlet just touches the pavement when I pull out or back in my driveway .

Just tried the black tank sensor clean trick . Filled black tank with around 16 gallons of hot water and 1/2 cup Dishwasher soap and drove about 15 miles . My gauge reads full when I know the tank is empty . So got back home empty the tank and it still reads full :annoyed:just filled again to the top with hot water and letting it sit for a while . :notsure:Giving up after this .
