We're expecting our first child this fall and, being the gear junkies we are, are looking for the perfect car seat for the DCSB. What do you family guys and gals use and why?

Ideally looking for something that's not oversized, but clearly extremely strong and will grow with the baby. Bonus if it's easier than the standard ones to take in and out of the truck, especially to put it on our soon-to-be purchased Thule stroller with the infant adapter.

So, what do you prefer and why? Dionno? Chico? etc.,

    Pics please!

We had a Peg Perego that worked with our Bob stoller, I'd recommend both. I didn't have the Taco at the time, so I can't comment on that.

They are expensive as hell, but we liked it the best out of the options in the local baby store and I found it on Amazon for about half the price so we went with it. It was easier to use than the cheaper models we had with our first kid a few years prior. The latches and buttons were just easier to work with and click into place and get level etc.

Look in person, then price out online.

we had the Graco for the infant seat, you can buy extra bases and leave them installed in the different vehicles, snap in and out pretty quickly and into the stroller. Once they outgrow the infant seat, the Recaro convertible is awesome, way better and easier to strap in, adjust, remove, clean, etc... than the graco and diono that we have also had. Also, looks cool, and fits in the tacoma no problem.

We got both our Recaro's on woot for like half of retail.

Ive got this one in my 2017 double cab:

    https://us.britax.com/b-safe-35-infant-car-seats

Make sure you find one that is on the smaller side in the length dimension so you don't have to push your seat forward. Also I would suggest you buy one that has the ANCHOR system - its so easy to install!! Or if you figure out how to use the ANCHOR SYSTEM in the middle seat let me know because that would probably give you the most room and its actually much safer for the kid.

I have a graco infant seat with multiple bases for my wifes vehicle, parents vehicle that is in the middle, I also have a 6 year old in a plain booster, and a 3 year old in a convertible booster with harness. I put my 1 year old in the middle, my 6 year old on the passenger side and my 3 year old behind my seat. Look for the narrowest car seats you can find, do some internet research search car seats that seat 3 across and you will be fine. Don't let people tell you that these crew cabs are too small for multiple kids. I agree with the above poster that ANCHOR systems are the way to go even with straight booster seats it makes them safer and easier to keep in place.

We used this for both our babies. Currently using a black one for our 7 month old. Expensive since they run around $300 but it is well worth the $

Try for one with these latches but most of the quality car seats come with them. They make life way easier when you are in a hurry.

We have the Chicco NextFit Zip in the Sienna and the Graco 4ever in the taco. I like the Chicco a whole lot better...

Whatever you choose, the MOST important thing is to know how to properly install and use the seat. Incorrect installation and/or use is no bueño. So many people don't take the time to learn correctly...it's scary.

Google to find a local place that installs them - in my town the cops, fire department, and EMT all do it for free (well, they do ask for a 'donation').

I went to the local EMT squad as they are usually the most capable of the lot; easy to talk to and have the best attitude - really informative - they give you a LOT of great info and are very nice people. Well worth whatever you give them!

I have a front facing seat for my daughter in my DC and I've been trying to think of the best way to prevent any structural damage/permanent compression to the foam in the seat.

    Any ideas?

My infant seat is a Britax B Safe 30.

    No complaints with either.
