I have a 2015 OR. I find myself wishing I had a compass at least once a week, so I guess I'm ready to buy one, but I'd rather not have a huge ball on the dash like dad had in the Caprice Classic. I know they make mirrors with them, but I have to admit that I'm not much of an electrician, so I don't know if I could do it unless it's simple. What are my options?

IIRC if you buy the OEM mirror with the compass in it, the connector is above the headliner .. plug and play

It would be helpful to know the year of your truck if you are interested in a in-mirror compass. Which BTW only gives NSEW readings, or some may give NE, SE, SW, NW. Not real sure on that for all models.

Otherwise just download an app for your phone like GPS Status. It works great, no service required.

Who's that guy that sells such great mirrors on here? Bobs mirrors or some such. Plug and play on some models.

I believe @Iowa10 has a 2015 so if he could do the mirror swap plug and play from a 2012-2013 that would look OEM.
Otherwise in my 2006 I used a Garmin handheld with a ram mount. I did have a little floaty ball compass too stuck on the windshield

    This.

I love my '13 rear view mirror with the compass, temp, and back up cam.

OK, I am going to buy one from Bob. (not the backup cam, though)

    Thanks a bunch, y'all.

I bought this one from flea-bay.... Although it hasn't been installed, it's not a bad price for compass/temp and I don't have to mess with my mirror which already has the display for the back-up camera in it. My plan is to install in the overhead console where the OEM one goes. If I can track down the wiring diagrams, I might even attempt to use the factory harness for the install also. I opted for this aftermarket option because the 09-11 factory modules are buku-expensive (is that how you spell buku???) :notsure:

I was pretty far off. :D I tried a couple of derivatives but spell check didn't approve of any of them so I just went with buku.

But I think this unit could be a decent deal if it works well and the install isn't too awful.

They read N NE E SE S SW W NW. So the 2015s dont cone with a factory compass? The 11 trd offroad that I had and my current 13 trd sport both came with a compass.

No 2014 and 2015 didn't come with them except pros.
2014 are straight plug and play and some 15s have the harness and some don't.

I have a 15' offroad and installed a used mirror compass/temp combo from Bob on here. Perfect condition, cheap, and pretty much plug and play.

I bought the mirror from Bob with compass, home link, temp, and auto dim. He was super helpful when I had questions during the install. Great product

Anyone have a link for Bob? Hoping my 2015 OR is plug and play and HomeLink sounds great.

What's wrong with a standard GPS? All of mine do compass headings. Granted not when your sitting still but who cares?
