We are switching dog food from Nutro to Orijen. The grains in the Nutro are not agreeing with the dogs. Orijen is grain free and has won best dog food of the year the last 2 years, so we'll give it a go.

    Here is the link.

3 inch lift, fuel wheels, n fab step bars, rough country 30 inch light bar in lower grill, de badged tail gate, and a few other thing...

Same here. I have a 4 year old weimaraner and a 3 year old boxer. I was using Nutro when they were pups and my Weim developed some problems. The vet said it was the food and personally recommended the purina large breed (green bag).

We put our dogs in it, and have had no issues since. The vet comments regularly when we take them in that "they are very healthy dogs and that we are doing a great job taking care of them".

Look at the ingredients too. Its definately good dog food.

    Really? Which ingredients are good?
It's rated 1 star of 6..or a 'below average food'.

:notsure:My dogs probably eat better than I do...but I try to do what's best for them. Oh and most Vets have very little nutritional training, for what that's worth.

Feed the dogs Iams dog chow. I think as long as the first ingredient is meat and not a by-product, should be ok.

We feed our 40lb lab cross (2 years old now) 1 cup twice daily of a mix that is:
15lb bag - Origen six fish
    50lb bag - Acana pacifica

she's been on this ever since new. :) she's a healthy weight, lots of energy at the park and absolutely devours the stuff.

sometimes we add carrots and snap peas to her dinner as well.
for treats its mostly dehydrated chicken strips from costco, with the odd milk bone.

I love that the food we give her is healthy for her, and i love knowing that she is getting the nourishment she needs. Its also pretty cool that her food is made about 45mins from my house in Morinville AB

    :eek::eek: wow! 4-5 cups a day! for a 40lb dog?

on our diet i give my dog 2 cups a day! and a dehydrated chicken strip at the park usually. even then, there was a time when the vet told us to be carefull because she was getting overweight. she's a 1/2 lab btw. I guess it is true that you will use less by upgrading the food.

Hollistic is much better. I used to feed Jager "Fromm" when he was a little pup, but it is really expensive.

That's cool, whatever works for you...but if you saw an improvement from a crap food to another crap food imagine the improvement you'd see on a high quality food, right? ;)
I fed Pedigree for 10yrs without knowing better and my pup was very healthy for what I knew then, now I realize he could have been even better.
