I've had this Viking jack for about 15 years. I got a jack extender for extra height and surrounded it with a block of wood for extra stability. Adds 5 1/4".

I just got a rubber block today that adds about 3 1/2" and has a slot for pinch welds.

I have a plastic pad for the saddle (not sure where I got it).

I also got a Tesla jack adaptor mentioned in another thread to fit in the nipple under the front of the truck. Not sure how worthwhile it will be.

I got 12 ton jack stands from Harbor Freight for the extra height that they give over 6 ton stands.

Costco? I've looked at those, but they've always seemed kinda sketchy. :notsure:

Costco sells them, but I got mine from QJ directly on a Black Friday sale. I have the 5000EXT model, I clear the 5000 lb weight limit on these. Rock solid on the QJ, I do think the accessories are overpriced though.

I just have the Home Depot 3 ton jack and jack stands. I got it for free at an employee appreciation party, no complaints and might as well use it.

Used it for 4 years now and I think I'm still alive.

    Edit: a word

I just bought a BL-5000SLX as the new ones don’t work for my C5. Are you on the tallest lift blocks there or SUV adapters? I’m curious if it will get my truck off the ground with my lift without needing the SUV adapters.

I feel like I could get away without the extensions but they’re cheap enough to grab in a pinch.

just gotta say, i'm really finding the whole "BUT HARBOR FREIGHT RECALLED THEIR JACK STANDS SO THEY'RE ALL GOING TO KILL YOU" talk somewhat funny.

hf recalled the jacks due to a manufacturing defect. specifically, aging tooling, and then poor welds. something that can apply to every single manufactured product within this dimension of time.

hyundai just recalled a bunch of vehicles for possible engine fires. or ford literally issues recalls every week for software and bolts all the time. the f-150 is still the best selling truck, and no one is turning in their hyundai's for being unsafe. and don't even get involved in child safety recalls, it seems half of all products released in that sector get recalled for child death faster than they can release a new product!

most jack stands are made about the same. there's also much speculation that many are made in the same facilities, just with a different sticker on them. so "don't buy HF jack stands" doesn't entirely fix the issue unless going out of the way to buy an obviously-different jackstand like this. if the speculation is true, that the same jacks are made for multiple brands, than HF is the only one that went out of their way to issue a recall for the defect. but there's no guarantee that those welds are any good either, or the metal is even correct. subaru recalled a massive amount of vehicles because their metal supplier falsified metallurgy reports, so there was no way to know if the metal that they got was the correct spec..

recalls happen, and never rely on a single point of failure wherever possible.

but when companies don't want to issue recalls, or redesign a product, that's when we all need to start flipping tables

Truck isn't lifted, so I was able to get away with using the single "large" blocks. QJ says you can stack a large and a small block, but I'd probably feel more comfortable with the truck adapters at that point.

When raised, the QJ was rock solid. I went and gave the truck pushes from all directions and tried rocking back and forth. All good.

Excellent. I guess it’s all about how much droop I have at this point. I am excited for this. Will make my snow tire swap easy.
